As you know, I sell my CDs at CDBaby -- the largest online distributor of indie music. If you don’t know that I sell my CDs there that means you haven’t bought my CDs, so you should go there now and buy ‘em --
Anyhow, through CDBaby, I was automatically entered into an indie music contest. I think I vaguely remember clicking a button or two, but that was last year, and I drink a lot of beer so it’s kind of a blur. Turns out this is the largest indie music contest in history sponsored by Just Plain Folks with over 42,000 CDs and 560,000 songs submitted. I got an email earlier this week saying that Brand New Same Old Obsessions has been nominated for Best Vocal Jazz CD, and that three of my songs (Maybe I Will, The Night I Discovered You and What’s Your Cousin’s Name) are nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Song. Now I realize that not all 560,000 songs were in my genre, but still there must have been thousands of them. I was the only writer with multiple nominations, plus my CD got nominated too, and that is just plain cool, folks.
