It's tough. Very tough.

I'm not the most well known artist. Not well known anyplace for that matter. I manage, but it's all I can do with what I have. I'm not the most motivated individual, but now and then, people will throw me a bone and I'll fetch it.  A year or so back, I had a chance to do some ad art for a local Denver roller girl league, it was going along fine. I'd send my renditions, and they'd send back changes, etc. No big deal. It was going along fine until I get an email stating that they can't use my work because a local big name local promoter has just come and taken over all that, so I'm out. It happens..and truthfully, I can't blame them, it's HUGE exposure. Hell, I'd do the same thing. Then a month or so later, I hit up by another local Denver area roller girl league to do some art, and I have better luck. I do some art for them, and they say it'll appear on the cover of their program. "Cool!" I thought. So I get to work designing, cranking up my Photoshop and getting down to it. I also go to one of their bouts to get some pics of the girls in action. After wards,  I submit the first piece and they make changes. No prob, I'm flexible. I send back the change, and they ask for another small change. Again, no prob.  Then I get an email saying they can't use my work on the main program because a local big name promoter is now doing all "their" ads, program books, posters, etc...but they'll use my work for their "off schedule" afternoon bouts...okay, no prob, I'll roll with the punches..it's happened before and I count myself fortunate. Hell, I even get free tickets to the major bouts, cool enough. And again, I really can't blame them for their decision to have a big promoter take on their advertising, etc.  ..And I wish these leagues all the success!!

I guess maybe I don't have what it takes. But that's bullshit in an of itself. I do some pretty good fuckin' art. I've been in a few galleries and have been published a few times in addition to a line of patches that you may find at a Hot Topic or some such place. But I do good shit. My mom may not like my subject matter, but she still supports me and my wife is always on my side, in addition to all of our friends. And by the way, as of this writing, I'm currently in another art gallery in downtown Denver..!! So YEEEHAA!!  I also have another interview with yet another gallery, show wish me luck there..!!

All in all...I can't really complain, but I wish more folks on the "way up" would glance down at this poor artist and..throw him a bone..!!
