The STRANA Super Trucks put on several demonstration runs throughout Petit Le Mans weekend in '03. The concept was a spec race truck to get a series launched similar to the FIA's series in Europe. I can't remember who the drivers were that weekend besides Gunnar Jeanette, although Boris Said and Duncan Dayton come to mind.
I talked to Brian Till about STRANA last winter, and he said what really killed it was who would buy a race vehicle for a series that didn't exist for the same money as a 911 with a ton of spares for ALMS or GA.
Still, an interesting footnote like the NATCC Super Touring series.
