In the ancient world (and too often still in the postmodern world)... fathers were rulers... embedded in a direct line of sorts of authority from God or Gods to Emperor... Governor... Priest... Village Chief... No humanity allowed... The way they kept order was through Honor and Shame and a heavy hand... Ah, but I stray… So one day a younger son comes to his father... Now you already know that there going to be trouble because younger sons in stories are always trouble... And he says... in essence... Pop... give me what I'm entitled to and Drop Dead... A sense of entitlement by children goes a long way back... Come to hear the rest of the story and bring a friend.
