Okay!  I gotta get this off my chest...

We had a Casino show last night, which was smokin' by the way, and I had the pleasure of meeting many people.  People of all shapes, sizes, ages and racial / ethnic backgrounds... most of which seemed to enjoy our show or went so far as to come to me and say so.

What made last night such an interesting event was that the casino also had another show going on besides "The Honky Tonk Road Show"...  a trio of Cambodian Pop Stars!!!  So, there was a large population of asian folks who came to enjoy their show, as well as ours!!!  Our regular Honky Tonk crowd was there, mxed with the normal big city casino crowd (Urban Professionals), the usual contingent of Native Americans (Indian Casino), a group of very gracious and appreciative Hispanic folks, as well as a number of African Americans (from Georgia & California)....

Now... let me start by saying, I rarely if ever put "People" in buckets as I just did, but I had to to get my point across here.  To me, when folks come to my shows they are "Honky Tonk Fans", regardless of their ethnic background, skin color or language of choice... That makes us family in a sense!  The point is, we ALL had a GREAT time and enjoyed the evening for what it was!!  A night out to be ourselves, to be free and enjoy ourselves...  Nobody had any reason to sit around and discuss our physical differences, our polical opinions or any of the politically correct horse shit!!!  We were ALL there with a common mission!

Okay!!  Then I go to a local diner this morning for breakfast and had to sit through a conversation going on at the table next to mine that broke down the width and depth of biggotry and descrimination in America today.  This was from people who were referencing a trip they took to Georgia and South Carolina 30 f'ing years ago (by the way it was also revealed these idiots have never been out of Oregon since).  Now, I am a son-of-the-south (Georgia Boy) and know a little about the south...Yes! some prejudice and biggotry will always exist... FACT!  It's not right and it never will be...

I sat next to this conversation for about 20 minutes, attempting to shut it out while reading the entertainment page of the Sunday Paper (BTW... Taylor Swift didn't get nominated for any Grammies.  Together now... Awwwwwww!) but when they got to the topic of the "N" word and how they do not tolerate the use of the the real word, I had to say something!  Look, I get it... stupid people have to run their mouths in the presence of other stupid people to compete for the "I'm Stupid, but you're stupider than me" award... I get it!!!  But when you are subjected to this kind of shit, and you feel your intelligence being sapped through osmosis... it's time to Interrupt!!!

Well folks I Interrupted... I very politely said, "Excuse me... but can I say something?".  They all looked at me with an expression of confusion like I had just walked in their living-room naked and pissed in their house plants while reciting the pledge of  allegence.  They didn't respond verbally so I took that as a "Go ahead kind sir...".  I said, "You know, the problem is that way too many people such as yourselves, who know NOTHING of prejudice and biggotry spend way too much time talking about it like they themselves have experienced it.  What you should be doing in finding something to talk about that doesn't call for the word nigger... then you won't have to evoke the "N" word.  Think about it!"... They stopped talking, paid their bill and left!  Mission accomplished!

You know folks... Last night was a perfect example of a diverse group of people getting together and being united as Human Beings.  This morning was the perfect example of how that all gets f**cked up by politically correct idiots who think they're helping mankind... From now on I'm gonna refer to them as the "I" word!!!

For the record... I Love All Y'all!!!

Your Honky Tonk Servant,

Bob Manning

When we figure out that we all bleed the same, regardless of our skin color, religion, or ethnic backgroud, or anything else for that matter - AND - we all live on ONE space ship in this universe - we just might figure out that we can get along - as you noted.

Another Son of the South - once pointed out to me, while we were in the far Russian North (a country we once aimed our nukes at) - that when you put a dozen kids on a playground together - all from different places, languages, and backgrounds - they usually figure out how to communicate, have fun together and get along. It takes grown ups to tell them about prejudices and bigotry.

Good observations - bro.

Bob,

I commend you on speaking up and saying what was on your mind. I don't think ever should be prejudice or judmental, but you know as well as I do, we see it everday. It is not right using the N word, and I am sure glad that at least you got your point across to them. Hopefully, they will think before they open their mouths degrading someone again. I was raised by both parents that is you can't say something nice about someone, don't say it at all.

I sure love to see you Honky Tonkin !
