Current mood:  creative
greetings friends,

Here's some straight up-craziness for you.

It took us someone who understood the inner-workings of the modern computer machine (thanks Mr. Jordan Linde) to help us figure out how to get a video of ours on You tube. We probably could have done this a year ago, but at least we figured it out.

So this video for "The Photograph Song" is actually dubbed to an older/demo version of the song recorded in April of 2005 in Madison. Our friend Andrew Veeder, a film "aficionado" and Warner Bros. employee, came up with the concept for the video with singer/guitarist Ben Gurstelle of having a steadycam shot that used edits to give the effect of us moving around the room.

Since he was back in the midwest for only a short time over Christmas break, we had very limited time, ie, one afternoon to try and get this done. Drummer Ben Mulhern locked down a location--the gymnasium at the school he works for, Dowling Elementary. We thought it might be kind of cool to shoot with basketball hoops in the background but in the end decided on using the curtain that separates the gym in half.

It was nearly 3:30 PM when bassist Alex Puetz returned from a funeral in his hometown of Muskego, WI and was rushed from the airport to the location. This is why he is decidedly more formal than the rest of the band. In order to use some of Ben M's 3rd-6th graders in the music video (they appear rocking out during the strobe section) the debut had to wait for the bi-weekly homework and reading period to let up at 4:15 PM.

Shooting wrapped at around 5:15, and the band had miraculously managed to film all of the footage in two hours.

Hope you all enjoy "The Photograph Song".

TD.
