Oklahoma Flute Fest
Current mood: blissful

Was absolutely Awesome. A wonderful gathering of friends and family, supplemented by new friends along the way. The flutes and the music had to be experienced to be believed. Friday night was the ingathering.. meet and greet.. aka Talequah Flute Circle gathering at which we began the hugs and greetings, flutes and sharing, discovering who was arriving and who would be missed.

Mother Nature sent in her fireworks display that night, but the day dawned cool and sweet, leading to a weekend of fabulous weather in a place of green and glory. The Heritage Center is pretty and cool with loads of space for all the vendors to spread out and show off their wares.

The flutes.. the Flutes... Th e FLUTES and many other accessories and items of interest... so much it took all weekend to see it all.... and with all the distractions of music and friends, I am sure I musta missed something, lol.

Saturday's concert began with Morgan Fawcett sharing his talents and stories in such gentle charming fashion. This young man has much to offer the world in love and hope and honor. All we have to do is listen and learn.

Michael Allen followed with his totally awesome demonstration of his well known rim blown flutes... Anasazi at it's finest... He blew away our host with his talk of his "petting museum".... Our host being the Curator of the Oklahoma Heritage Center and King of the "Looky but NO Touchy" crowd... ah well, We like him anyway :)~.

Jan Seiden rocked the house with her fabulous collection of sound toys and then had Sir Michael join her for for a duet of the Anasazi kind that was beyond belief... Our Puebloan ancestors were indeed in the house that night. Jan might not quite believe it, but even Sir Michael is no match for her prowess with the much beleagered Anasazi flute. She is the Princess of the Anasazi flute in my books.... 4 octaves... clear as a bell... awesome.

Sunday dawned bright and clear, with more music and friendship. We continued on until the closing bell with all of the energy and joy we could possibly muster.

For me, the opportunities to share the stage with so many of my friends and idols brought much joy.. especially virtually taking over on sunday morning. We forgot to warn Dusty that the members of the Flute circle starting out the morning included the next act... he was so confused, lol... but we straightened him out quickly enough and he graciously allowed us to continue on.

With all of the joy and sharing in place, there was an underlying layer of sadness and concern as one of our own has been taken ill and is fighting a very tough battle. Through out the weekend a large part of our coming together included Many Flute Prayers sent out to Randy Stenzel and his family along with the sharing of support as the collection of well wishes included the nickels and dimes and dollars of  our pocket change to add solidarity to our love and support.

Just hold your hands out and feel our touch.

Be Well My Friend. You ARE Loved.

Soft Winds Blessings
