Thanks for posting the rarities, photos, and other treats, Ric!  I'll be checking back frequently...  It's so good to see you back in orbit - I love your production, but your words and music are unparalleled.  I hope I get to see you again, in concert - it's been a long time.  Door to Door tour - Chicago was the last time for me, since I'm from the midwest.  Keep up the good work.  Unlocked was A+ all around - I'd love to see other fans post their reactions to it here!

Best,
Chuck Nolan

Hi Ric!

I'm so excited to find your post!

I have loved your music for a long long time (but your lyrics are too difficult for me, because I'm a Japanese not good at English...)

It's a great fun for me to check here.

Please come to Japan to play again.

Thank you!

Coreys Championship Trophy 2008! AA Minor Champs!!

Hey Ric,

Welcome! I saw the Cars in 1986 D2D tour and it was phenomenal. I also saw you at the Paradise on Troubilizing 1997 tour and that was great especially hearing Up and Down. The new DVD is great, BUT wish you had put some other tunes on it like Since Your Gone, Your All Ive Got Tonight, Since I Held You, Its all I can do, oh well, I saw you mentioned b4 that you could do a part 2 on the DVD - All your solo CDs are great and Silver certainly brought a tear to my eye thinking of Ben Orr. Always look forward to a new Ric CD and DAMM I missed your show in Boston last October because was recovering from hip replacement surgery but I tried to go and my wife was ready to kill me cuz it was only a little over a week so anyways another Boston show would be sooooooo great for your next CD which I hope will be out in the Spring. Take Care Ric! Marc

Hello.

Being born in 1990, I never got to see the Cars live, so I must thank you for Unlocked. You got some cool art and deep poetry going on here too. Anyway, thanks for adding me to your friends list.

Rock on.

Hi:  "all in an endless line waiting for equal time"; "not found...when you look into the scorcher's eyes"; "so i'm filled with hope in a simple way" : thanks for letting the beatitudes seep in and sprout hope, faith, confidence.  I'll keep an eye out for you.

And thanks for the concentrated melodicism and jouissance on "Nexterday"!

If RicO is really reading this, I will say these things...I remember the first time I heard a Cars song on the radio in High School...everyone loved the Cars back then.  I started learning to play the guitar right before college in 1981.  I learned to play every song on the Cars albums.  I mostly focused on learning the RicO rythmm parts and I loved your writing style...I learned a few of Elliot's solo's, but most of them were a little beyond my ability. I was inspired by him as a guitarist (especially being a fellow lefty player).  I saw the Heartbeat City tour in Portland Oregon (must have been fall of '83 or spring of '84- it was awesome.  I went with my bandmates at the time, and I remember we tried to get a demo tape to you by giving it to one of the security guards.  Our wet dream (at the age of 20) was that you would listen and be blown away and sign us to a record deal...Looking back on it...the quality of the recording was far from professional (recorded in my parents living room on a cassette using borrowed mikes).  I still think the songs were good, but back then we didn't have access to affordable home recording like now.   I actually have 2 songs posted from that era in my own songwriting from a demo tape recorded in 1985.   The quality is still pretty bad, but I still think the songs are good...as a matter of fact my current band The Treading Lemmings is in the process of reworking those songs.

Thanks for being an inspiration to a generation,  and I'm glad you have a MySpace page (if this is really you....)

Retro Rewind ™

Ric!

You are one of my ALL TIME heroes. My life would not be the same without your music and The Cars. I became a songwriter because of you!  I landed a Top 20 Billboard AC hit in 2005 as a writer. Your writing and influenece on me is deep. I hope to interview you for my nationally syndicated radio show, Retro Rewind someday. It'll be a major moment in my life. Please checkout my songwriting page. My friend stars on "ER" and "American Dad" and he's the one who sang our hit song.

Hi Ric,

I saw you at Carnegie Hall in February following the Welcome To Dreamland performance. My friend and I were at the front of the stage as the place was emptying and you and Paulina walked past us and said, "Good to see you." We returned the greeting and then wondered to ourselves if you mistakenly thought you knew us. It was kinda funny. Well, perhaps we have made more out of than we should have...we will be sending you a link to a webpage we're creating that was inspired soley by that split-second interaction. I think you will like the site. I have been a fan since I can remember. My sister and I used to dress up like guys, play fake guitars and put on Cars shows for our family. Guess you had to be there. Thanks for the music...and the inspiration for the website....Jessica

Hey Ric,
Thought I'd share this story first time I met you was outside of EU Wurlitzers in Boston.I was I think I was 16 at the time and I had specificly drove up from Cape Cod to Buy this device called"Hot tubes" made from electo harmonix.Becouse at the time I was in a band that played Cars songs, and I thought that would help me get that sound on "Let"s GO".( Candy-O had just come out)
Anyhow you were in there getting your guitar fixed or something and I went outside and saw a red jaguar car outside, so standing there with my newly purchased "hot tubes" I waited till you came out and asked you If you would sign it , and you were so nice and signed it and corrected me that that sound was in fact a keyboard, but a guitar could simulate it..I never forgot that.
All the best,
P.

Completely agree with you dude!! It would simply be unbelievable if The Cars have had 1988 album too!! But as you know, there will be no original Cars anymore...
Though I can't see The Cars live myself in 1984 and Ric in 1982-1988, all I can do is
meet him in NYC :) AND I WILL!
