Science has failed our mother earth.

The increases in technology have not benefited the human race. We work more, we work harder, we work longer...

We have no time to realize why we're here, our purpose, our goal, our vision.

So we look at the sun...

Ridiculous

That I believe is untrue, at least for Americans and those who see the advances in technology... People are working less, most not as hard, and certainly not longer..... in the 1920's people worked 12-15 hour days, now the standard is 8.  Also can you imagine, working in the fields doing hard labor as they did in the 17 and 1800's and before?  Probably not, while some still do today it's generally not for as long, and not as many.  Longer, if the daily hours didn't explain enough, let's talk years; The average American probably starts working at around 18 then retires and 60 with 20 years left to live. Now on the other hand, if we're talking past it was more like 8-14(depending on what era) till you die!!! System, an awesome band, doesn't know WTF they are talking about when it comes to SCIENCE!!!

Jason, please think about the BIG PICTURE!

Forget the 1920's and all that nonsense. Think back to a time before the whole Agricultural Revolution... What fields would you be working on back before farming was even invented?

Have you seen the show "Survivor Man" or "Man vs. Wild?"

Yeah those guys gotta do some labor to survive and what not; but for the most part, once you've established a shelter near a food source, you begin to find yourself with a good amount of free time on your hands --and in the days before technology, it would be time we spent gazing up at the moon and stars... Pretty much doing exactly what Serj says we've stopped doing: THINKING ABOUT LIFE!

Of course we have benefited from many modern advancements... I will be the first to acknowledge the AWESOMENESS of Science, and the potential it brings; but what good is it if we use it to distract us (e.g., by means of television, the media, and consumerism) from reconnecting with nature and understanding the true meaning of life?

Having been taken out of nature, human beings have grown disconnected from the knowledge that we are all ONE.

Just think of every human as a desktop computer... Every computer is plugged into a wall, and from that wall comes electricity or "the source." ENERGY is what we are. It is the essence of INFINITE CONSCIOUSNESS, because energy can neither be created nor destroyed. We are all ENERGY. We are all tapped into that same "source." Hence, we are all ONE.

"I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human."

Those are just some of the lyrics to a song called "Lateralus" (meaning "lateral thinking") by a band called Tool. Perhaps you may have heard of them? I hear they are quite popular! I highly recommend you smoke a j and listen to the whole album. :-)

After that, please stop to think about all the "advances in technology" that Americans get to enjoy at the expense of destroying the only planet in our known universe that can harbor life.

Bottom line is this:

Science = bombs/nuclear weapons/burning fossil fuels/global warming
or
Science = zero point energy/increased human lifespan/abundant food and shelter for every living soul on this planet!

Which path do you think we are headed on?

Wait, Hold that thought! I think you're back from Europe now... What are you doing next week, say 4pm-ish? :-)

-peace
