Current mood:  cheerful

On Sunday, April 29, 2007, the Sammi Moore Band again fronted the bluegrass legend, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage at the National Cornbread Festival held in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.  Sammi had completed her performance and was surprised by the Mayor of South Pittsburg, Mike Killian, when he asked her to remain on the stage with him for a special recognition.  Mayor Killian made a little speech about Sammi’s hard work, dedication, awesome talent and being a role model for other young people of his city.  He presented Sammi with a key to the City of South Pittsburg as a symbol for their support in her career, future goals and as recognition for what she has already accomplished.  Sammi was totally surprised and when asked to comment, all she could say was "whow!!! I’m blown away, this ain’t even my home town" and then thanked Mayor Killian, the City of South Pittsburg and the National Cornbread Festival for all their support.  Sammi later commented that special things, like their recognition of her hard work, gives her desire to keep pursuing her dreams.  See the picture of Sammi and Mayor Killian with the key to the city in the "pictures" on the website.
