Let us remember that the pilgrims were the very first immigrants in the US since they fled their homelands to escape religious persecution.  This country was found on freedom of choice and expression and the premise that all are created equal.

As an immigrant, I know that mom and dad chose to move to the US so we can have a better quality of life because we are free to choose the lives we want to lead here and still be protected "equally" under the law. 

For this Thanksgiving, let us be grateful to have that freedom of choice and protect that.  Let us work together that we are all equally protected under the law and to shun the many demagogues and false prophets who manipulate us with fear and ignorance.  Remember that fear and ignorance are choices as well and, like bigotry and racism, can be passed and taught from one generation to the next. Let us choose pro-Peace over anti-War, diversity over privilege, acceptance over bigotry, trust over fear, love over hate ... and share those choices with our loved ones in the hope that they will share with others and others share with others.

As an openly gay man and drag performer, I am very grateful to my family, specially to my wonderful and generous mother,  who loves and supports me unconditionally and my hope is that same unconditional love and support be shared by everyone. 

Just imagine what a wonderful and powerful world we can create …
