i understand the confusion. i don't blame anyone for asking. i mean, the name keeps changing on the album cover. so i have decided to give a brief description of what the deal is.
first there was norway. the first record was released in 1999 on tooth and nail records. it was myself and my friend doug on vocals.
then doug left and it was just me. i decided to slightly change the band name to norway2. but i actually made it norway² because it seemed like a good idea at the time. to go along with the album, the norway squared corporation was announced to the public. this is a futurist company that basically aided in the development in space age materials and ideas for today as well as coming generations. obviously, it is all fiction, and is a tribute to many of the futurist ideas of the 60's.
the new album says norway3 on the cover. why? well, i wanted to continue the theme from the last record. but the important thing to remember is the band is and always will be just norway. the other numbers at the end are just for fun. sometimes there is an asterisk at the end. that is the new logo.
the asterisk logo has recently been developed by a good friend of mine and does not coincide with any past or future recording. it is just a logo.
i realized after norway² was released that changing the name for each album makes it hard to catalogue online and in stores. so i'm trying to let everyone know that the name is norway. there might be numbers at the end, but it's basically still the same.
and to answer the same question i have been getting for the last 6 years or so - no, i am not from norway. neither was doug. the name "norway" actually has nothing to do with the country, although it is a cool country. very nordic. we basically named the band name after a song from the first cd called "norway girl". that song is interesting because the song "norway girl" has nothing to do with norway, or a girl from norway. so the whole name "norway" really makes no sense whatsoever.
...and now you know the rest of the story. go in peace.
