Hello to all the beloved swifties,
There are many ways people mark the beginning of everyone's favorite season. For many of us, it starts on Memorial Day weekend. Some mark it on the first day you have to get out and cut grass, others the first BBQ of the season. But if you're a member of The Swift, you have a different standard. For us, summer is marked by one age old tradition that dates back hundreds of years, and involves some key events. They are, the first batch of cafeteria corn, driving through a blazing Texas afternoon with no A/C, and Mike Simons sporting the fly camouflage shorts. That's right beloved.... summer camp is here, and in a major way.
As a lot of you know, Summer Camp is our favorite time of year as a band. In addition to some of the things I just mentioned (don't forget corn dogs!), camp gives us a chance to really hang with all of you guys. It so great to be able to see people throughout the week and get to know them outside of a regular concert setting. It also gives us a great opportunity to lead in worship. Watching a group of people come together in worship over the course of an entire week is an amazing thing to be a part of.
If you are scheduled to attend one of the camps we're at, please come and say hey to us. We'd love to grab a bite to eat, or be a part of whatever else your group is up to... except basketball, remember campers.... we're musicians!
And if enough people read this, remember, camp craziness is one of our favorite things. One highlight of last summer was at Falls Creek Camp in OK. We saw a guy wait in our autograph line for an hour wearing an ape suit! He wore it in a 100 degree heat. That is serious dedication. I want to see at least one ape suit at every camp for the rest of the season.
Thanks to all of you for your support. We will see you real soon. Yay to summer! Stay tuned,
All the love,
Britt, Mike, Guy, and Matt
