Concrete Poetry, Metaphysical Sound:
Jazz Ensemble and Male/Female Spoken Word Duo to Release Experimental Music Project

“Sacred Paths” Street Release Date: 9/20/09

Denver, CO - Asia Jazz Project and Hip-Hop fusion duo Molina Soleil & Aju have joined together to release a unique blend of music― experimental jazz musicianship paired with male and female spoken word vocals. Titled Sacred Paths, the 55-minute project explores themes of life rituals and transformation, love and distance, environmental destruction and human spirituality. The smooth and often upbeat jazz sound tastefully balances the reflective and influential words of Molina Soleil & Aju. Sacred Paths will be released independently by the Wyoming-based arts collective CHiTT Productions.

Asia Jazz Project features the sound of Asia Fajardo, a 25-year old saxophonist and composer who draws inspiration from her work as a traditional Aztec dancer. Asia recently returned to the States after touring in Europe for a month. Sacred Paths is her first album release. She is also set to release another album this fall with her Latin/Reggae group Mono Verde.

Molina Soleil and Aju are a male/female artistic duo that fuses cultures, languages, and artistic styles.  Following their recent release of Shine Flow (EP) with DJ Icewater, Sacred Paths showcases their poetic prowess― a mixture of spoken word and experimental styles. The pair is also slated to release a full-length Hip-Hop album in November titled Soulaju.

Rounding out the talent on the project, Sacred Paths features Denver-area musicians Antwon Owens on drums, Luis Chavez on percussion, and Lewis Mitchell Neeff on Piano. Will Ross of CHiTT Productions mixed and mastered the project and his artistic partner Dustin Neal designed the album art.

Community activist Renee Fajardo and Dr. Arturo Aldama, who teaches a spoken word class at CU Boulder, are responsible for connecting Asia and Molina Soleil & Aju. The musicians decided to make an album after coming together to perform at the Fox Theatre in Aurora and the Corn Mother’s Conference in Denver this past April. The release date for the album coincides with Asia and Aju’s birthdays. They were born on the same day of the same year on different continents. Sacred Paths will be available for purchase on CD Baby and Itunes.
