Article

Kurt Vonnegut has died aged 84 April 11, 2007, after a brain injury resulting from a fall in his home in New York.

He was one of my favourite writers and a major voice for humanism.

Kurt Vonnegut has a singular writing style with witty and touching works that described the human condition in ways simultaneously funny, tragic and dignified.

He continued to write and give lectures up until his death.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for this man.

<P>I concurr. My work owes a great deal to Vonnegut and his black-as-a-new-moon-on- a-midnight-lake humour, combinded with real compassion for the human race. He was one of my "read always" authors, no matter what mood I might be in, and his continued efforts to tackle the problem of uselessness, of spacelessness for people always struck a chord with me.  </P><P>I will always remember the two lessons learned from 'Mother Night.'</P><P>Firstly, that you are what you pretend to be.</P><P>Secondly, make love while you can. It's good for you (or words to that effect.)</P><P> </P>
