Who Gives Kudos:

[07 Apr 2008 | Monday]
So! I have been making some progress lately. Here’s a quick summary of what’s been going on both personally and professionally.

I have gotten back in touch with a good friend- CD Hale, with whom I intended to start an independent record label, effeffess, and we have agreed to get things rolling band-wise. I started throwing together a few licks this evening, and we’re going to bounce ideas back and forth over the ’net until we get something together. We may also have a guitarist/drummer/recording engineer interested in the project, but that’s getting a bit ahead of myself - we’ll see how things work out. Anyways, the band is called Siege Engines; I’ll be posting more info on here as it comes along.

I have also re-commenced guitar and cello playing. Composition on the new album is coming along slowly but will likely be finished by July 20, 2008 - that’s what I’m gunning for, at least.

On the personal aspect of things, I have met a female friend that I enjoy the company of very much. I hesitate to say more than that at this point, as we’ve only spent one evening together thus far, but I remain optimistic that a good thing approaches.

I have decided upon a career path. I wish to study Marine Bioacoustics, preferably in some way with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, where I also hope to attend Graduate school. I will be working with Jerome Wodinsky and William Tavolga over the coming years to get myself up to speed on current and classic literature in the field, and will be performing an experiment with Jerome in which I will examine the beaks of various species of octopus using electron microscopy in an attempt to elucidate their feeding strategies. In accordance with these decisions, I have begun teaching myself to swim, as I think it will be a valuable skill somewhere down the line.

All in all, I am still unhappy with who I am - I have a lot of work to do in various facets of my existence and am doing a poor job at keeping up with them. However, I feel as though I’m migrating towards the right path in a lot of ways, and have begun to accept myself despite my assholery.

These are acceptable times. Whew, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to say that.

You can't swim? Odd career choice ;)

But, hey! Glad to see you are... somewhat content with your current stage in life.

Best of luck to you.
