Current mood:hung over

On the way to San Diego.  Wednesday was the 1st show of the tour, in Tucson.  Club Congress is always a good time.  The bill was a bit weird in that it consisted of us and Glenn Kotche, the drummer from Wilco.    Also some people came expecting Nels Cline to be on the bill, as he had played some of Glenn's west coast shows.  So those things led to some confusion and strangeness..  Glenn played an excellent solo percussion set and then we  played our very loud rock set, which drove away some people who'd come expecting the show to be all jazzy and mellow.
But it was still a pretty fun evening, and super nice to see Glenn.  My friend Andrew also came by the show, and afterwards he, Steve and I hung out at the Congress bar and drank a lot, then went upstairs to our hotel room where we put on the Metallica "St. Anger" rehearsals DVD and laughed uncontrollably.

Last night, we played Modified in Phoenix.  Small crowd but a very enthusiastic one, which was great.  My friend Michael headlined the show with his solo project, which is called Princess LadyFriend.  His songs are great, and he's a super sweet guy.  Most of my solo Phoenix shows have been with Michael , and it was nice to do it again.
After the show, stayed at my friend Will's house (Will was also the promoter for the show) and his wife Retta (sp?) cooked amazing food for us: BBQ chicken, soybeans, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, and I think a couple other things. We drank what seemed like a million Tecates and showed them the "St. Anger" rehearsals DVD and laughed hysterically, then watched a Journey concert DVD.
