My Subscriptions
[04 Feb 2009 | Wednesday]

I don't know how many people have tagged me for this, so instead of doing homework, I'll succumb to peer pressure.

1.  I have a motorcycle license.

2.  I subscribe to National Geographic.

3.  When I was thirteen years old I broke my maxilla by attempting to jump my bike off of an outdoor stage.  A surgeon had to push my top teeth back into my skull and stitch in and out through each one of them...

4.  I have never owned a credit card.

5.  When I was roughly ten years old I made a whole choreographed dance to the song "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio.

6.  Mos Def and Natalie Merchant can both make me cry.

7.  I have an "all or nothing" attitude when it comes to thinking.  Doing?  Not so much.  Hence:

8.  When I was fifteen, I made my first issue of a D.I.Y. Zine which I called "Underground Zine."  It was a 6-page conglomeration of random magazine clippings, straight edge rants, and song lyrics.  I realized not long after that I was simply trying to mimic Uncle Matt's zines.  Issue 2 was 20 pages and was full of Christian/Punk-Rock/Anarcho jargon, basically 14 more pages of the nonsense that was in Issue 1.  In August of 2007 I created the first issue of a new zine.  It has many of your poems, prose, and art pieces in it.  I have yet to publish it.

9.  I am currently teaching myself how to play Mandolin and Harmonica.

10.  It is my dream to live outdoors for an extended period of time.  If I were to "settle down," as it were, I would light my house with natural light and candle light, heat my house with fire, hunt animals, and create some sort of permaculture for myself and my lover and/or family.  Feels so far off.

11.  I live paycheck to paycheck and I lose sleep over it, only because I want to cross the country.

12.  My globe is one of my most prized possessions.

13.  A lot of people say they appreciate the simple things in life.  I am in love with what you call simple, for I call it complex.

14.  When I grow up I want to be an activist-worldtraveler-journalist-yogateacher-lifecoach-psychologist-professor-musician-hiker-artist-writer-mother-pioneer-scientist-farmer-philosopher.  I hope I grow up slowly.

15.  I am a part-time nude model.

16.  I look forward to and prepare for an apocalypse.

17.  I believe in rebirth, not adaptation, when it comes to economic and environmental policy.

18.  I am moving to Boulder, CO in the summer to attend Naropa University in the Fall.  I am an Interdisciplinary Studies major (Contemplative Psychology, Environmental Studies, and Eastern Arts).  Pending my acceptance and funds.

19.  I believe that consumerism is a root of ignorance of Self.  I believe that ignorance of Self is the root of all evil.

20.  I have a website/blog/thing that I try to keep up with.  I post articles, videos, etc. that I find interesting.  http://absorbefacient.wordpress.com.

21.  I secretly hope the internet gets canceled.

22.  I long to be fluent in American Sign Language and Spanish.

23.  I am in love with someone.

24.  I recently discovered that I am an Animist.

25.  The thing I least like about myself is that if I could put myself in list form, I would.

I have found that the art of simplicity simply means making peace with your complexities.
Everything is brilliantly complex!
