I woke up suddenly hearing the door open. No idea where I was, or why I was hearing my friend Mike's voice. Rapidly it hit me we were touring down through Medford and Chico, via Portland, and Mike is filling in on drums. Oh yeah. He was asking Phil if he wanted coffee. I opened my eyes at the mention of the 'c' word and sat up. Too fast. Dizzy spell again. This really has got to stop.

Mike was up at the crack of dawn apparently. He was already showered and had explored the neighborhood, found a coffee shop with some cute baristas and was looking for an excuse to head back over. Phil gave him an order. I wasn't quite ready to deal with the world when it was spinning like it was, so I crashed out for a while longer.

Got up and discovered I'd totally forgotten my bathroom kit -- no toothbrush, deoderant, etc. Crap! Pulled on some clothes and Phil and I headed out to find a Walgreens.

Our car was still in place -- Josh at the Jupiter was real cool the night before and waived our parking fee, as well as let us leave the car in the guest-parking spot where he could keep an eye on our equipment. Thanks Josh! That was real cool of him. Phil and I headed over to the coffee shop where Mike was busy transcribing Gilligan's. Sure enough, the Baristas were definitely cute. We grabbed a bagel and some coffee and began our trek to the Walgreens, about a mile up the road.

When we got back, we got our crap together and checked out, and began our drive down to Medford. That's about a 4 and a half our drive. The Town and Country we rented has a little stereo headphone plug in it, so we connected up the iPod and jammed out while we drove.

We stopped for subs at a gas stop along the way, and filled up. The T&C was getting awesome gas mileage. On one hand I feel weird driving a mini-van. On the other, wow, I'm pretty impressed. Smooth ride. I can't get past the oddity of full service gas stations though. Seriously, getting gas is not something I need help with.

We rolled into Medford, found our hotel. We got a sweet room at the Red Carpet Inn, complete with a kitchenette and fridge. While Mike and Phil napped, I chilled with the Misfats in their room watching some crazy japanese Ninja game show and drinking PBRs. I then drove around looking for a spot to pick up disposable cameras to hand out at our show.

We rallied, dressed, and headed down to Johnny B's. Johnny B's was on our list of places to potentially play on our last tour down the West Coast but things got booked in Eugene and Chico before they were inked at J.B's, so we missed it. Nice little spot -- great food, with an awesome french fry sauce that is their own special recipe.

There were four bands on the bill, but one of the bands' car broke down out in Salem, so we wound up with just three: Power of County (Portland) opened, followed by us, with the Misfats headlinining.

Power of County is a pretty awesome rockabilly band. Total blast to watch and listen to. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/thepowerofcounty

We went up next, and played a pretty awesome show. Mike did great; a couple snafus here and there as we all were having trouble hearing our vocals, but our recording is impressive in that
A) Mike played great, really gelled nicely. Mistakes we made were only noticed by us. Really cool
B) Our vocals for the most part were in key. But that always impresses me.

The crowd was awesome, liked what we were doing, and we watched a lot of people regress to being 11, sitting in front of the tv snacking on Pop Tarts. :)

We finished up, and the Misfats went on next. As always, they not only rocked the house but were hysterically funny as well. I swear to god I laugh my ass off when they start doing Danzig's "Mother," but their lyrics are "Butter.... spread you on my toast every day...." hahaha yeaaaah.

The highlight of my night was while I was taking gear out after our set, there was a fellow hanging out outside who had been listening. I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was broke and couldn't get in to listen. So I gave him 5 bucks for the cover. He wound up inviting a bunch of other people to come down after that. Awesome.

After the show we packed up, then headed over to Shenanigan's, a block away. Not too many folks there, so we headed back to our hotel room and had ourselves a party until about 3am when the poor guy in the room next to us finally had had enough and asked us to stfu. Probably a good thing, we need the sleep.
