Back in 1994, shortly after moving to my current home, I ran into an old mate who lived nearby and invited him round for a spliff. Eventually he did find his way round to my gaff and I played a song which I was recording on a porta studio called More Like Floy.... and invited him to try a guitar solo for it. His name is David Dewey and since then we have spent many hours producing music together. The piece has now been retitled "Remember 1974" which sums up what it was really about; sunshine and concerts, a carefree lifestyle and far too many illicit chemicals. The biggest selling album at the time was Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd and this song is a kind of pastiche of that. Guitars and Bass played by David Dewey who also joins me on vocals. Everything else written, arranged, played and generally screwed around with by me.
Lyrics: Remember when the band you were in started playing different tunes, There was no room on the hill and all was quite still on the dark side of the moon. We could breathe the air, we hadn't a care, Our lives were free of pain. And it was so out of sight when you hugged me so tight, you drove me quite insane. We promised each day that together we'd stay and we'd live life to the full, Then we let time rush by, sat and watched out love die. and I feel like such a fool, 'cos now your gone and I'm all alone I just don't know what to do, and I can't deny that all these tears I cry, I cry for you. And as I write this song I feel there's something wrong, it's a tune I've heard so many times before. It doesn't even sound like me. It's more like Floy.........
This is the 15th anniversary mix of the 4 track original. Also in memory of Martin Romer who played the accoustic guitar on the original.
