Question:

"I am wanting to purchase a good, but not TOO expensive, Photoshop, something to do editing with. And I'm not sure what route I need to go. I'm not quiet a "professional" photographer, but would love to get there! I have had several jobs offers lately, and would love to be able to offer my clients exeptionally edited photos. What would be the best one to buy??

Thanks!!
Tessa

(My husband bought me "The PrintShop version 22" but it doens't give me alot of editing options) "

I just received an email from Adobe regarding Photoshop CS3. Until July 31st, they are selling it for $299.00!! If you can afford it, now's the time!! I have already ordered mine... :)

Happy shooting!

Another option is to buy Photoshop CS2 or Photoshop 7 which are the previous versions. They allow you to upgrade when you want to. I have been using Photoshop since version 3 and there is nothing that comes close. If you want to do something, Photoshop allows you to do it. Photoshop Elements is a good way to get started, but when you own Photoshop, it pays to attend a course or buy some DVDs that show you how to use things. ie. for years I never used Layers, but now could not envision using it without using Layers. Your investment in Photoshop is an investment. It will pay dividends in the future and make your photos much better. Check out my MySpace page to see how much better.

I agree with Stuart. I started with Elements and then got lazy and never learned the full version and it showed in my photos. If you go to the Adobe website you can download a fully functional CS3 and I think Elements for a 30 day trial. Yes, the pricetag is daunting, but it's worth it. You can also find some decent deals on Ebay on the earlier versions Stuart mentioned. I got hooked on CS3 due to the RAW 4.1 integration. Once you go to Photoshop, you will NEVER go back! Best of luck to you.

A word of caution with CS2 - It doesn't always function well with Windows Vista.shdcb7cpp
