Like so many other songs on my album, this song is about trust, and I wrote it as a meditation on the words of Psalm 62... “Truly my soul finds rest in God... truly He is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” I was going through a time when the waves of life seemed to be crashing in on me... and I cried out for the peace of God. Every time I sing this song, there is a hint of that desperation... that longing that was there at the time of writing. At first I thought this was too personal a song to share... that this was just me and God, but God really put it on my heart that others should hear the song and be encouraged to fix their eyes on Him. In the storms, in the midnight hours, in the fear and the heartache, the best thing we can do is declare the promises of God. Speak them out. Sing them out. Shout them out. He is trustworthy. His promises are sure. He is the God of hope. He is the God of peace. His love endures for eternity. He never leaves us or forsakes us. He is always faithful. Be encouraged!
