Back with another update,
St. Louis...what can I say I really like the city and all the people we know there and they've got a couple of the nicest vinyl spot I've ever been to but, the spot we were at was dead. I don't know if it's lack of promoting or just lack of a scene in the lou but, I'm guessing lack of a scene since DJ Who does something there every thursday. A lot of the cats in St. Louis had told me that most of the spot they used to have hip hop at either stopped doing hip hop or closed. so now they're trying to build it back up. Like I said I still love going there and I really enjoy the people we know and Gotta Be Karim is dope so St. Louis head need to check him when he's out performing in your area and people need to check him...period. and don't worry we will be back that's just how it is.
Indianapolis....good and bad. the rain put a major damper on the festivities since people act like they're going to fuckin' melt if they get wet. I actually saw women dressed up to go out and walking around wearing garbage bags over their shit. Anyway we sort of got a late start. The rain had people running a little late and we were trying to hold out to give all our guest a good turn out but, that didn't happen. Don't get me wrong it was descent but a lot of our "friends" didn't come out to support. Now the performance side of things was killer. Alpha held it down and did a great job hosting the night with accapellas and creative introductions for every act of the night and was joined on stage for some verses by Ace One and Mic L. Night to get the night going. Decay and Astonish kicked it off and gave the best performance I'd seen so far on the tour. the energy was perfect. Second was Mudkids, now if you weren't there you missed the OG Mudkids. DJ Elp-mass was in the place and held down the 1's and 2's for the Kids. It brought back hella memories. I loved it. Then it was USM, they gave the audience their high energy set as I've seen them normally do but since it was after 1am on a Friday people started thinning out. I don't understand that, it's a Friday, get drunk and enjoy the show, stick around, you already paid. Anyway Verbal Kent went after USM and for anyone that didn't stick around YOU'RE STUPID. VK is a monster. that's all I can say. ask Russ about him if you want another opinion. Finally we went and not that many people were there but we love each and everyone of you that stuck around and did the whole night with us. Deific, Skittz, and Rusty were in the building so we got to do all the collabo songs off of our album, well we tried to do the one with Russ but, none of us could remember all of our lyrics so we just laughed it off. it felt like the audience was watching us practice. it was such a laid back performance, we all had fun. Now if I sound like I'm being critical of my city, the scene here and my friends it's because I am. When someone, and I mean anyone, goes out of their way to bring a tour or any known act to this city we have to show that we've got something here and come out and support, no matter if it's just for a few moments just to make an appearance outside of the building. Don't get me wrong the Chicago and Detroit cats thought Broadripple and the scene was the shit but me personally I've seen what can be accomplished. That's why if we're here and there's not something majorly important we have to do, you'll usually see at least one of The Sentinels at your spot because that's what needs to be done. Showing some support for fellow artist is better than none. Now that I've got that off of my chest, I'm good. Going to other cities on this tour has let us know what we've got here in Nap isn't as bad as some of us might think. So far on this tour Indianapolis has been the most responsive, energetic crowd we've had and that makes me feel even more proud of this city and scene and we love all of you for that. So Thank you all for revitalizing all of our hopes of what can be achieved in and around this "sleepy town" called Indianapolis. Peace. Until next time.
July 3rd we'll be doing a DIY Fest in Cleveland. Should be fun. Looking forward to a rowdy punk rock crowd.
Then we're back here at Radio Radio for the Mpozi Tolbert tribute on July the 4th. This should be a great night of music, memories and spirit.
Final stop for this Midwest tour is Detroit on the 5th of July with USM. This I've been told is going to be a hell of a night. I hope so.
