...and a special treat for reading this far again.
Each
year on Halloween day, my friends find farmers desperate to rid
themselves of the last-minute pumpkins, the picked-over orphans of the
field. They buy them at a discount, take them home, and spend all day
carving them. Then, they line the Bynum bridge with them. At about 5am,
someone usually comes to smash them and throw them in the river.
Mary and I pulled a 2:30am rescue this year and brought home some very special pumpkins. Click here
