may 23rd was 1 year i rescued elizabeth rose with the help of zeke loftin and jim.... she was just a baby when i first saw her picture on livedeal.com... i carried the image of her day and night and even in my dreams.... that is when i knew i had to rescue her... and i did! it was mentally exhausting, time consuming (1 month) and very costly.... but i would do it all over again.... to see her grown and i know very happy gives me a feeling that i have never felt before.... i hope one day to meet her and hold her paw in my hand....
here is a letter and 2 pictures i received today from lisa, owner of peace river refuge where ER lives...
Elizabeth Rose is doing wonderfully – she is growing like a weed. Since she is still smaller than the three bears in the acre enclosure, she is allowed to play with them during the day, but she is separated for feeding and she sleeps in her own den at night. Her best friend is Dolly, who is 18 years old and twice her size but still plays like a youngster. I'm hoping to have time to update many of the animals on our website – Elizabeth Rose is one of many who are not represented there yet. Since our webmaster left over a year ago, I have been trying to do that as well as everything else…never enough time in the day. Of course the animal care always comes first, so I'm sure you will forgive me for occasionally falling behind on the computer and office work when I'm overloaded. I'll try to have some photos uploaded soon… These are the only recent photos I can get to quickly, the rest are on my camera (and my computer is crashing, badly). These are Lizzie in her temporary pen, attached to the acreage pen – one is me training her to let me hold her paws (and later trim nails) and the other is her in her own private pool. The in-ground pond in the big pen is for all of the bears and is far enough from the side of the enclosure that good photos are a bit difficult.

I won't have time (or computer capacity) to update the website for a while, but rest assured that if any big news (good or bad) happens regarding Elizabeth Rose you guys will hear about it right away. Everything has been going smoothly, that is why we haven't dropped everything to do 'news releases' about her. I need a clone (and a new computer!) ;-)
