Ken made a small contribution to the disc that recently received the Detroit Music Award for "Best R&B/Blues Recording," which was announced at the DMA ceremony the evening of April 20 at Detroit's State Theatre.

Here's the story: Last year, before Murrow's Boys existed, Ken played harp in a band called Blues in the City. It contributed a song called "Freeway Blues" to Detroit-area record label No Cover Productions' benefit CD, "Blues for Katrina and the McDowell Family." Blues in the City guitarist Eric Shaver wrote the tune, and the band recorded it in his basement. That version was one of 14 tunes included on the disc.

Other artists who contributed songs were Detroit acts The Tones, Little Jr. Cannaday, Big Shorty, Leonardo, Erich Goebel, Lonesome Dave Paul, Chris Leigh, Wailin' Dale & The DT's, Mary Thompson & The Delta Children,

Bobby Murray, The Billy Davis Rhythm Machine, Travelin' Blues, and Louisiana Heat. Most were recorded at the Straight Ahead studio in Oak Park, with all involved donating their services.

Mike Boulan, owner of the studio and label, initiated the project.
