Greetings !!!!
Fleets of armada like greetings may we heap upon you like reams of warm UV rays.
Hello and welcome.
These words are here one after the other , like this and this , to give you some Information which may elude to what we have been doing collectively since the last time I formed words like this in such an informative order.
Here goes.
By the end of last year we were muddled. Lost in the murky mess of trying too hard .
After listening to tracks we recorded back then they really are best left where they lie. This little funk hung with us thru' Xmas and lasted till our first rehearsal of the new year when one song really and truly changed the way this band works thinks and breathes.
So we tried something new.
'new' being a really old blues song. One that's slept around a little ,its got no author as such its just one of those songs that's in the air .And always has been. Its been bastardised a million times and will be again no doubt .
Dylan loved it for a while then Zeppelin gave it some juice and others I don't care about also gave it a shot . Then us .
I remember practising not in our regular spot , the beloved garage, but one of Dublins numerous undergroundshitholeripoffdirtykip rehearsal spaces.
First time we played it , we knew it was good , no scrap that. Great. We knew it was GREAT. It felt good to play and made us feel good about playing together again which was the most important thing .
The reason I'm banging on about this tune so much is because its the reason why we are where we are now.
The Song In question Is called In My Time of Dying.
Its become a staple in the set . And has helped us realise that's music don't have to be complicated to be good.
Since January we've been playing more like a rock band than say an Indie rock band. In words theres only 5 letters different, but in sound its immeasurable.
We looked to our favourte records , the shit that gets us excited.
beatles/stones/thewho/zeppelin/dylan/fleetwoodmac/thinlizzy
The stuff we grew up with , the shit we learned how to play our Instruments by . The shit that's engraved on your brain before you even know what a music is.
So we started to play again in the garage and have fun and write what we wanted not the we we thought we should and now we are here.
Ready.
We go to NYC for the CMJ music fest in October. After the Festival we're gonna stay there and track our record.
There will be a lot of new shit on there. Maybe not the older songs but right now every things a contender.
We're gonna do it old school. Live to tape.
Its scary , but fuck it . What else are we gonna do . sit on our hoops waiting .
No.
Definitely not .
Anyways we'll be putting up some demos , done on our sexy little 4track tape recorder , up on the myspace player for you guys to listen to .
Check em touch em listen and let us know what YOU think.
GUILT QUILT is up there now
that's pretty much that .
