Hi friends-

You might have heard recent news reports about the food prices in Haiti skyrocketing, causing the already poverty stricken population there to be more malnourished than ever. People are literally eating dirt, they just want to fill their stomachs with something. Here is a recent Fox news report about the situation.

There is a mission organization called GLOW [God's Love for Orphans and Widows] which works directly with the people in Haiti. They are currently putting forth extra effort to secure sponsorships for the children down there which ensures that they get food and education. The cost of this sponsorship is $32 a month. So often we see opportunities like this and fail to actually do something. I am personally asking YOU to consider taking action and sponsoring a child yourself. If this doesn't strike you as something you'd like to do, please consider at least making a one time donation.

You can learn more about GLOW here: http://www.glowmi.org

You can sign up for your sponsorship here:

This is an email from one of the main people at the organization: "Yes the web is all set up for sponsorships . let them know that we are remodeling the site in anticipation of my new sponsorship drive, so there are not as many things to see as usual. Every child we sponsor may save several kids from starvation. I have set a goal of getting 1600 kids sponsored by Dec31,so that we have to go outside our own villages next year for more kids. they are really going to need us, in those areas. If we are not there, then nobody is in many cases. If GLOW was not doing what we do by providing for those villages and families, then they would not have help from any other source.
Encourage those who receive your forward to continue to pass the news on. i am very concerned that critical mass has already been reached, and that we may see starvation as never before in Haiti. I did a lesson demonstration with real food showing what a dollar buys in Haiti right now. It was shocking, and very very sad. I even loaned the materials out to a couple of teachers and they were surprised as well. I'd be surprised if the average Haitian lives on 35 or 40 cents a day. Maybe you know some people who do publicity professionally who'd help out. "

If you feel a burden to do something, please follow through with it very soon. And please consider passing this along to your friends and family.
