So rap music is on this whole 'rockstar' kick now... Which would be fine, if A) It weren't completely devoid of any class whatsoever, and B) It hadn't already been done much better in the 80's and 90's.

First it was Shop Boyz with their "Rock Star Mentality" album, and then R. Kelly seems to be cashing in on the fad with his own "Rockstar" song. Add 1 part Kid Rock for authenticity--what's the rock equivalent of "street cred?"

First of all, adding guitars to a snap beat hardly makes it a rock song, let alone 'rockstar' material. And I don't think their pitiful excuse for a music 'revolution' could be a more sorry bag of clichés and ill-conceived quips.

It seems like they slept through the Rock 101 class and decided to just settle with clinging to every white boy cliche in the book... Skull belts and wallet chains? Check. Surfing and saying "totally dude"? Got it. Don't forget to drop names of people that've been irrelevant to rock for at least a decade--Manson, Ozzy, etc. Check.

Pretty much all the stuff I used to pull to be cool with the rock crowd back in 8th grade, the Shop Boyz are doing now, and in turn millions of mindless rap fans into a bunch of reverse wiggers, and that, my friend, is a scary thing. I urge you all to think twice before stepping into that Hot Topic! What's the real reason you want that $80 pair of pants with the 30lbs. of metal dangling off the legs!

Anyway, I'll quit rambling.

Check out my half-butt remix of the Shop Boyz song

, with some real rock injected into it: "Party Like a BlackStar"

Samples used:
Racer X - Frenzy (Street Lethal)
Megadeth - Youthanasia (Youthanasia)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Black Star (Rising Force)
Iron Maiden - Wasted Years (Somewhere in Time)

You should check out all those bands too; those samples just scratch the surface.

And for the record

I HAD THE WALLET CHAIN FIRST, BEEEOOTCH!
