Ok then. Today I decided to clean out my garage and there was one box that had a bunch of old Black and Blue mail. I know a lot of you are not as old as me. When i was younger people wrote letters and spread jokes we send in emails as photocopies and a lot of the images were Low quality ect...
Anywhoo there were catalog requests, orders, media, agents and sales pitches. What I want to share are 2 gems (which I am mailing both to Merle) that brought back 2 short stories.

The Bloody letter
No not a letter from Bloody Mess but there were some of those too including a flyer for the infamous Bloody Mess & The Skabs afshow at CBGB's on Jan 5th 1991. Check with Bloody or Gabby for real details, I was not there.
Hey i know a lot of people have seen or gotten blood stained letters  myself included BUT...
In Feb 1992 a letter came from Lakewood CA from a Veronque. She  must of really had a crush On GG. It was addressed to GG care of Black & Blue. Back then Larry Evilelf would on occasion pick up the mail and this letter was on one of those days.
OK the letter is self explanatory, a simple love letter in menstrual blood to GG.

Well Larry opened it and howled "YEAH, CHECK THIS OUT" So I did and eventually told GG about it and he told me to keep it. (Why did I keep it?)
Anyway it was one of many strange things sent to Black & Blue for sure. My friends can view it in my pictures under extras

The Greek Letter
For some reason I have gotten a good deal of mail over the years from Greece. In March of 1997 I got a letter addressed to GG care of Black & Blue again but this time I could not share it with GG.
Anyway I get this letter (see my pictures) asking GG for a autographed photo (not uncommon) and " I want some cassettes with sounds of throwing up and stomach pain by girls because I prepare my theatrical performance PAIN AND STOMACH THROWING UP based on the Prana Healing Philosophy. This performance is a Glorification of the Strong Woman, who has accepted a lot of tortures from the societies"

Anyway As I continue to go through all the boxes of pre 1999 stuff if I find any gem or if a good story/memory pops up I'll be sure to share it with you!

Bloody F. Mess

At that particular show (which never happened), The Skabs & I were in limbo. Broken up actually. It was the period after the 6Th Grade Field Trip album came out. We were inactive.
A band from Staten Island contacted me. They learned the entire 6Th Grade album & booked 2 gigs for me. One in Staten Island at a mob owned joint called "Nerri's". And one at CB-GB's. I drove out to New York with friends( actually Bob Gordon, who owns ACME COMICS in Peoria) & got dropped off in Staten Island. I got to the club & met the band. And one of the managers too. And he hated me right away and told me that I had BETTER NOT be burning anything onstage or breaking anything.
Well, the crowd of about 75-100 people were upfront as we started to play (& the band, to their credit, was mucho tight & played the album well) and I'm not sure how many songs we did, but lets say some things got burned. And broke. And the skinheads in the crowd attacked me!!! I had to use a fuckin mic stand to beat the dickheads off me....I got as many hits in to them, as they did me. It was surreal & chaotic & I was ushered out a back door by a bouncer & the guitar player had me jump in his car (RIGHT as a few angry skins were beating on the car window). I thought my ass was dead meat. But alas...We got away & I got dropped off in the city, at my friends hotel room. It was priceless to see their faces when I walked in completely drunk & disheveled from the gig.
The next day I went to a horror convention & met Merle Allin & his wife then (Michey-who was really cool) and also got to meet Johnny Ramone there & some other cool celebs & rockers & actors.
Merle & Michey & I ended up hanging out, walking around the village...It was a good time. We went back to their apartment where they made me some tuna sandwiches. And a dude named UNK came by & literally put like$7.85 (or some fucking funny amount) in change UP HIS NOSE. It was funny shit.
Anyway...the 2nd gig with that band was scheduled right down the street from Merles pad. At the legendary CB-GBs. I even have the Village Voice newspaper clipping with the ad!
Merle had set this gig up for me.
Then the call came.
The band (in Staten Island) told me that the skinheads were all coming to CBGBs to stab me/kick my ass/ etc & that they were NOT going to be there, or play with me.
They said "This isn't Peoria".
Pussies.
I was ready to do the show.
Merle was bummed. I was MEGA bummed. Plus, I felt bad that Merle had taken the time to help me, & then it all got fucked up.
But he knew what was going on. It's only rock n roll.

So thats the story on the CB-GB's gig that never happened.

I think people get confused about it.

On the Skabs "Hungover & Stoned" tour, the only gig we didn't play was at ABC NO-RIO in the city.
We weren't booked at CB-GBs.
We DID go there though while on that tour & it was a blast.
There are photos.

Just thought I'd share.
