Take a peek at our favorite page turners:
What Doesn't Kill You by Virgina DeBerry & Donna Grant (Touchstone/Simon & Schuster) - a timely story about crawling out from financial ruin in which the authors chronicle the poignant journey of opinionated, straight-talking, witty and hot forty-something Thomasia "Tee" Hodges as her once stable life is turned upside down when she loses her job but ultimately finds herself.
The Pretty Thoughts of a Hot Chick! Foxy little Notions for Our Minds, Bodies & Souls! by Alicia Marie Rivers (IUniverse) - a fun collection of inspirational quotes, mini essays and affirmations to help you think optimistically and turn the negative thoughts into positives, one pretty thought at a time!
The Hood Life: A Bentley Tale by Meesha Mink 7 De'Nesha Diamond (Touchstone/Simon & Schuster) - A pimp, a killer, a playa, and a drug dealer struggle to get their game right in a sizzling novel where leaving the life and trying to go straight is a deadly option.
Basketball Jones by E. Lynn Harris (Random House) - a rip-roaring tale of sex, secrets, betrayal . . . and blackmail.
The Blood & Tears of Domestic Violence: A Survivor's Revelation - Author Donna Savage spent her early years exposed to alcoholism, abuse, poverty and pedophilia. Married at age 16, with thoughts of a better life, to a man that would become her abuser for nearly twenty years, she vividly describes many instances of violent episodes that began even before her wedding day.

Tia’s II Cents: Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you’ve probably heard several different versions of the alleged Chris Brown and Rihanna altercation. Whether it was because Chris got busted cheating or whether Rihanna gave Chris an itch he couldn’t scratch, we will never know. All we do know is that celebrities have been voicing their opinions and concerns for both parties. Jay-Z is said to be furious and that Chris Brown is “a walking dead man,” while Terrence Howard has been defending Brown. Why? Maybe it’s the fact that Mr. Howard was in a similar situation back in 2001 when he was arrested for beating his ex-wife and charged with assault, stalking, and harassment. Come on guys! Violence is never cool, and especially when the whole world gets to witness your troubles…
There is a new tell-all book being shopped around entitled “Dancing with the Devil: How Puff Burned theBad Boys of Hip-Hop,” that is said to allegedly expose Diddy and his bamboozling ways. Mark Curry, former Bad Boy artist, and author of the book, says Diddy coaxed and hoodwinked him for nearly a decade by promising to release his music...excuse me, but am I the only who has never heard of Mark Curry? I’m sorry bad boy but snitching on Diddy isn’t going to get you famous. Now whatcha gonna do? We all know Stacey Dash as the actress, model, and Playboy centerfold, but now we can also call her a designer. Her line, Letters of Marque, which means ‘permission to invade,’ is made up of traditional, “back-in-the-day” under-garments with a modern sexy flair. (www.lettersofmarque.com.) But Stacey isn’t the only one with intimates on the mind… Janet Jackson is also trying her hand at designing her own lingerie. Her line, which will be named Pleasure Principal, is said to be made up of flirty satin and lace pieces. Look out for Miss Jackson’s line sometime this year! You might have seen it in the Ne-Yo video “Mad,” or heard about it from fans such as Rosario Dawson and Jamie Foxx, but TY-KU is much more than just another new celeb-endorsed liqueur. It actually tastes good and is loaded with vitamins. With less than 100 calories, you can’t go wrong ladies. Look out for the glowing green bottle! (www.trytyku.com.) Whether it was For The Love of Ray J, or for the love of the money, reality newcomer Monica Leon hit the jackpot. There are rumors going around that the contestant is three months pregnant with Ray J’s child! I guess you really can find love on TV. Sorry Flavor Flav. | ..
