Greetings,

Just a quick reminder to let you know that Ironwood has a couple of shows coming up... and also to boast about the critical response to our debut album :Fire:Water:Ash: ;)We're performing this Saturday 25th April at The Basement in Belconnen, Canberra, should be a pretty awesome night!

Then on Sunday 3rd May we'll be at M.A.S.S., which is held in the old side
hall at St Andrews Cathedral on 223 Darling St, Balmain. This is going
to be an all-acoustic gig and we'll be performing a few tracks that you
might not have heard before or else only heard on the album. Doors open
at 7pm and its $5. The M.A.S.S. nights are always an awesome prospect
with some simply amazing acoustic outfits taking the stage. The idea of
Ironwood playing in a church is pretty hilarious too!

I'm very happy to report that we've had an amazing response from reviewers and other media figures of :Fire:Water:Ash: thus far. Here is a sample of
what they've been saying:

"I hear a lot of music at HH HQ and Ironwood really stands out as authentic and a project starting with integrity and individual vision rather than adhesion to a musical style. [Ironwood] are certainly pushing "pagan metal" ahead leaps and bounds"
- Malakhi Thorn, Heathen Harvest (Apr 17, 2009) - www.heathenharvest.com/

"Ironwood’s self-released debut LP is an outstanding piece of mythological storytelling that defies heavy metal convention."
- John Ray, Metalreview.com (Apr 17, 2009) - www.metalreview.com/4976/Ironwood--Fire-Water-Ash-.aspx

"There is simply nobody out there doing what Ironwood is doing – certainly not with anywhere near this level of refinement and I urge you to support
these warrior Antipodeans by purchasing this work of art. "- Geoff Birchenall, Asgard Root (Apr 10, 2009) - www.myspace.com/asgardroot

"[V]ery technical & Progressive sound ... definately an original take on ... Folk Metal music" - Burt Wolf, Beowulf Productions (Apr 10, 2009) - www.beowolfproductions.com/MusicReviewsApr09.html

"[T]he band has managed to capture a mysterious, dark, epic, heathen and
magical atmosphere, which I honestly haven't heard before ...
:Fire:Water:Ash:' is definitely a stunning and unique album that has
the ability to apply a broad audience ... 85/100" - Nima, Lords of Metal (Apr 01, 2009) - www.lordsofmetal.nl/showreview.php?id=13692<=en#

"it’s a kind of mixture between peaceful and aggressive kind of nature but
both with sense for the emotions ... I would compare Ironwood with
Tenhi ... or Agalloch ... 8/10."

gehört werden will. [for English readers - he really liked the album!]"

[for English readers - a
pretty damn positive review]" - Andreas, Amboss Magazine (Mar 21, 2009) - www.amboss-mag.de/reviews/Archiv2/09/r03-09/ironwood.html

"This is one helluva dark and slightly twisted CD. The sole purpuse and
meaning of, "Fire Water Ash", surely must be to mess around with the
listeners comprehendsibility as much as possible (and I like it!!!)."
- Urban "Wally" Wallstrom, Rock United (Mar 19, 2009) - www.rockunited.com/reviews2009_01_03.htm

"[I]t can't get much better than this! Ironwood is definitely worth checking out!" - Greg Siefert, Archaic Magazine (Mar 18, 2009) - www.archaic-magazine.com/article.php?aid=46031

"Ein Meisterwerk ist „:Fire:Water:Ash:" ... 9/10."
- Chrischi, Burn Your Ears (Mar 11, 2009) - www.burnyourears.de/index.php/artikel-menue/cd-reviews-menue/3461-ironwood-firewaterash

"[T]ruly extraordinary ... this is a must have album... jump straight into the deep end and get your hands on this. 9.5/10 "
- Mitch Booth, Metal Obsession (Mar 06, 2009) - metalobsession.net/ironwood-firewaterash

"An extraordinary epic journey. Sweet melodies flawlessly segue into fiery
invocations. Just brilliant and mind blowing... [a] stunning feat!"
- Arrowyn Craban, Hex Magazine (Feb 25, 2009) - www.hexmagazine.com/

"Ironwood's debut album, :Fire:Water:Ash:, is most likely one of 2009s best
unsigned releases by far. These four awesome musicians from Sydney have
yet again outdone themselves with this release."- Mat @ Metaholic Music, Metaholic Music (Feb 20, 2009) - metaholicmusic.blogspot.com/2009/02/cd-review-ironwood-firewaterash.html

You can read an interview between us and Nima from Lords Of Metal here: http://www.lordsofmetal.nl/showinterview.php?id=2610<=en

There you have it! As always you can buy your copy from a range of distros as well as from our myspace page and website.

We are now beginning preparations for our second album, which is
surprising us with the speed that it is coalescing! The hunt for
distributors and an honest and competent record label continues as
well, so if you know people who can help us... tell them to ;)If you in Canberra or Sydney in the next few weeks then I look forward to seeing out at our gigs!

Regards,

Henry/Ironwood
