3pm - Bank Holiday Monday - Hyde Park, behind speakers corner cafe'. Bring food and drink.

Boris Johnson has claimed that the Tube booze ban was one of the great successes of his first 100 days in office. But this is only the start and it isn't just Boris - and it isn't just London. There are now restrictions on drinking alcohol in squares, parks and streets all around the UK - and in many other countries, from town centres in the Czech Republic, to beaches in New Zealand, Australia and the USA.

Booze bans are paternalistic regulations and another example of our freedoms being eroded. We believe that public spaces should be just that - a place where we can come together as a public - to argue and compaign, to chat with friends and socialise. I anyone behaves irresponsibly then don't we pay for a police force to deal with thos people? Why are we allowing authorities to erode all of our civil liberties so that they can take the easy road and not deal with trouble elements but prevent all of us from living our lives the way that we want to live them? We also oppose the puritanical move to prevent under 21 year olds - who can vote from buying alcohol at off-licences.

There is a provocation picnic on Monday the 25th of August in Hyde Park, London at which a report will be launched looking at the rise of booze bans. Why not go along and enjoy a drink in the park while you still can?
