Mica Paris has recorded a cover version of "Nothing But The Truth" for her
latest album, "Born Again" which was released this summer.
During a Podcast interview with David Nathan for SoulMusic.com, she said of
the song:
Another song that’s really incredible as well is a song called
‘Nothing But The Truth’. If you ever get a chance, just sit down and listen to
that record. It’s another song like ‘Born Again’, and it wasn’t written by Paul
Barry, it was written by somebody else. My engineer in fact, who engineered the
whole album, a fantastic guy, he played me this song, and I swear to you, when I
heard the lyrics from this song, I completely just broke down and cried, because
it’s the journey of the music business; the journey of the music industry. One
of the lyrics is ‘It’s hard to tell a hero from a fool’.
Whilst Ben, himself, was surprised to find that Mica had recorded one of his
songs, indeed a very personal one that he had written for his sister, he is
really pleased that such an acclaimed artist has done so. It is testament to
Ben's credibility as a songwriter that an established performer such as Mica
Paris could listen to the song, without knowing its history, and instantly fall
in love with it.
"Nothing But The Truth" was written by Ben along with Tim Woodcock, and
engineered by Paul Meehan who subsequently went on to engineer Mica Paris'
album.
