"Love Goes On! A Tribute to Grant McLennan" has its final line-up of 17 artists covering songs from Grant's years with the Go-Betweens, as well as his solo work. The tracks are all infused with his and Robert Forster's artistry, humanity, and brilliance while showcasing the individual talents of each contributing artist/group.
As we approach our anticipated release of the album this Fall, we're going to showcase one new track every couple of weeks, or so, while maintaining three of the first amazing tracks we recieved when we embarked on this project, by GB3, The Orchids, and Phil Wilson.
Now added to the player: Ed Kuepper's sublime and soulful cover of "Finding You." Ed has his own place in musical history: he co-founded the seminal punk band The Saints in 1974, and went on to the experimental post-punk The Laughing Clowns, and in the 90s the more grunge-like The Aints. He continues his solo work and is considered one of Australia's most distinctive and prolific singer-songwriters. We are humbled to have had him agree to participate in our tribute, and awed by the resulting track.
Finding You is a track on The Go-Betweens Ocean's Apart album, realeased in 2005. When the album was released, The Guardian had this to say:
"The narrator of McLennan's Finding You, meanwhile, keeps snatching glimpses of a former amorata through car windows and having their memory jogged by old song words. The lyrics take what should be cliches and twist them into arresting new shapes; the chorus swoons irresistibly."
Please give a listen to Ed Kuepper's cover of this invoking song, and let us know what you think! And please drop by Ed's MySpace page and give him some well-deserved kudos, as well: Ed Kuepper's MySpace | ..>..>..>
