man...music can be so awesome. i dig all kinds of crazy out there music, and i love how at any one time i can be totally way deep into anything. like right now- i'm obsessed with the song American Pie. like i used to think of it as some long-ass song by some dude that had a few good lines- upon further listening its a poetic chronicle of the 1960's american music scene- from the deaths of Richie Valens, Buddy Holly and the Bopper through Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Rolling STones and up to when Janis Joplin died. its a fantsastic song- there's a fly music video on youtube that gives some of the allusions away with pictures.

i'm also way into the Sly and the Family Stone song 'Everyday People.' Its a funky epic anthem for not just racial equality but for not judging folks.

as well, i song i heard for the first time a week ago, ben kweller's 'wasted and ready' is a current one of my favorites.

i saw KT tunstall on Austin City Limits and I was COMPLETELY blown away. she is so damn fly and bluesy and awesome. during "big black horse and a cherry tree" she breaks into 'baby please don't go' with her bandmates responding in the call-and-response manner. she ended her set with herself and her four bandmates all beating on various drums. she's CRAZY!!

also, doo wop and like a lot of the pop music from the late 50's and early 60's is pretty crunk.


...yea.
