Time for a recap, to follow up on my 2009 New Years Resolutions. Let's see how I am doing:

2009 New Years Resolutions

1| APPLY YOURSELF! DO WORK!!! -- B
I think I am doing well with this. I haven't fallen behind in school, I'm doing great at my new job. My boss is always telling me how good of a job I did on this or that, so I can't really complain. I have kind of fallen off the gym thing because I was travelling and then I just plain sucked. So I definitely have some room for improvement. I plan on getting back into the gym starting on Friday and hopefully I can stick with it. Also I've been going out to eat a lot recently and I need to nip that in the bud! Other than that, I'm doing well enough here.

2| Use Public Transportation -- B+
It took me a month, but I finally got my bus pass at the beginning of February and ever since then I have been riding the bus. I take it to/from work every day. I originally gave myself an A- for this, because I could get more use out of the bus system than I do, but I changed it to a B+ because I think I have a lot more room to grow in this one too. But I'm off to a great start!

3| Buy a New Pair of Shoes, Every Month -- F
Go fucking figure. The one resolution I was looking the most forward to is the one I have done absolutely nothing to achieve. I have it in my plans to buy shoes when I get paid on Friday, I didn't buy any in January and haven't up to this point in February. I am quite disappointed in myself. ):

4| Shop @ Pike Place Market -- D
I gave myself a D because I don't want two F's in a row, but I probably deserve an F. Super Bowl Sunday Candice and Jenn shopped at Pike Place and came over to my apartment to cook, but I personally have not been there at all this year. Jesus, I hate these resolutions. I hope this gets better as I move on...

5| Do Well In School, Educate Yourself -- B
School is going great. By going great, I mean I haven't fallen behind or stopped going. I missed one and a half classes, but the full class was cuz I was out of town. I've registered for next quarter and everything seems to be going great so far. I could probably try harder, but the one class I have that meets every week requires A L O T of reading and well I don't want to read 5 essays a week. So I don't. Next quarter though I will be taking a class on making a literary magazine, which should be a lot of fun, and another class that helps me get credits for prior learning. I will also be taking a course at one of the community colleges but I haven't decided what. We shall see...

6| Learn a Foreign Language -- I
I'm giving myself an incomplete on this as I haven't done anything for it, but I plan to start doing it in school. We'll see how this progresses. Next time I will give myself a grade, even if it's an F.

7| Quit Smoking -- A
So I've really cut back on my smoking. I haven't purchased (for myself) all year, and other than my trip home I haven't smoked but one time and that one time was some odd circumstances. I was walking home, dude was smoking a blunt on the sidewalk, it was a gorgeous day, and it had just fallen in my lap. Was totally worth it. That's why I'm giving myself a B+. I never really wanted to entirely 100% quit, but I did want to cut back a lot and I have definitely done that!

8| Learn to Cook -- D
Fuck. Haven't even touched this one. I hate doing this now.

9| Buy a New Laptop -- B
Can't really grade this too much. I have saved some money for a laptop, so I'll go with a B. I plan to buy it BEFORE my birthday, but I doubt I will wait that long. Maybe in April or May. We'll see.

10| Create More Stuff -- C
I haven't done too much with this. Written a little, and I have purchased a Midi Keyboard so I can play around with garage band more, but I haven't done anything too extensive. Hopefully I'll find some time to fox with that more in the coming weeks. I can definitely do more to meet this resolution.

So ultimately I think I am doing pretty well. The shoe thing I can fix really easily. I don't know what I'm going to do about the cooking, but if I learn to cook then I will want to shop at Pike Place more. And hopefully I can get more into a creative mindspace to meet the last of the resolutions. Aside from my frustrations with the F's up there, I am pretty happy with how 2009 has been going so far!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Well, I will be your lunch time Nazi and make sure you don't eat out for lunch. I will shop with shoes for you. I will suggest yummy beginner recipes (and answer questions as to how long things stay fresh) I will continue to edit your papers. These will be my contributions to your resolutions. Keep up the good work.
