I'm working on a project where I open up a book of poems by E.E. Cummings ( either by just randomly opening it, asking someone for a number, or just choosing a number) and instantly start playing/singing/and reading the poem all at the same time!
All these songs I did in two days, they're rough, a little off, but true. My intention is to inspire people, to be able to have them enjoy his poetry the way I do, because I LOVE what he has to say about life, nature, love, joy, happiness, widsom, etc. and when I read his poetry my heart brims over. I always had the idea to illustrate his poems, paint them, which I'm doing some sketches right now too, but, being able to put his poems to music is a quicker way to get it out there. I don't think too many people read poetry today, it takes TIME. Poetry is like meditation: you must allot a certain amount of time to fall into the poem, to allow your imagination take you into the poem. I think that his poems make it much easier to learn how to do that because they contain so much imagery.
So, I hope I managed to take what I know (musically) and trust my heart that I interpreted these in a way that allows you to feel what I feel: love.
