"ASTORIA: The LAST GOODBYE
Wednesday 14th January 2009. Doors 6pm entry includes Send-off AFTERPARTY 12- late.
http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=304806This will be a final goodbye to the London Astoria that has been pulled together in the final hour in conjunction with the bands themselves. It is a very sad day to lose a popular venue of such character and history. We have grown up watching bands here, accomplished dreams by playing the here, and now we will say our final farewell.
All proceeds going to the charities listed below, so we urge everyone to get behind the gig and give it a push, so that we can make this a night to remember as we say farewell to one of London's legendary music venues.
After numerous campaigns and public disappointment, the London Astoria finally closes its doors on January 15th. A Club night will have the honour of hosting the final night but we thought it wouldn't be right for the capital's most Iconic venue to close without a few live bands.
After a few frantic days of trying to encourage all we knew to get involved, we now have a line up on the 14th, which includes:
The Automatic
My Vitriol (plus special guest appearance)
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
Frank Turner
The King Blues
VV Brown
+ Many More Still to confirm
We're still waiting to hear back from many other bands, most of which will either turn up and play, or be announced over the next few days. Many thanks to all the bands/ managers/agents who have shown support at such short notice!
All proceeds from the Gig will go to support the excellent work of
Love Music Hate Racism and
Jail Guitar Doors. Tickets are £8 ADV and £10 on Door will go on Sale on Thursday January 8th here and the Astoria box office.
More info will be updated as and when. I think its going to be one of those nights...
Will give you more info tomorrow. Many thanks!
Sam Duckworth from Get Cape."
