Nellie Deane’s for Nellie Folk got the week off to a start, or is that finish what was a long weekend. ....

A splendid evening made the better by the appearance of Tina McKevitt and Sout Yorkshire Pete who gave us some splendid performances. ....

Good to see a lot of the Nellie regulars out and about after the summer Festivals. ....

But come Tuesday and the adrenalin rush of the weekends performances done the old MS kicked in big style and the muscle cramps did for me. ....

Personally I know I get away with it all very lightly, so I shouldn’t really complain, but it does become very frustrating at times. So sorry to all the places we normally get to, but I really was not up to it, I even had to miss Play On at The Fat Cat, Friday night, which I like to get to as it’s one way I can give something back to Myke who is very loyal to The Mashers. ....

I did make it to The Rotherham Open Arts Festival Folk Club Get Together on Sunday, and so did Myke, so The Mashers did their bit in aid of representing Flat Cap Folk.

Here's our Doug in long hair mode.

This was the second event organised by Nellie Folk living legend Rob Slow. ....

So hats off to Rob for another great afternoon of music. ....

Myke and I enjoy these knees up, it’s great to see all the faces that we see around the Clubs in one place for a change and catching up with all the News. It’s also good to see that people are getting so use to our material that they join in on the choruses – and with gusto.....

And this year it was great to see Paul Pearson and few other extra surprises adding to the event. ....

So that indeed was our week. ....

Bubbling under the surface has been the aftermath of The Mashers internal thing with regard to Stan. Stuff we could do without – and to be honest at one stage I thought we were The Beatles the way the thing has been blown by one or two out of proportion. Still I think the time has come to let the dust settler on that one. ....

And I’ve not been wasting my time entirely. I’ve been fighting head on with the intricacies of Flash. ....

Don’t go getting the wrong idea, I will not be standing on stage with my flies undone, well not that you would notice. Flash being those clever little animations that you find on a lot of Web Sites. Do you hear changes to The Mashers and Acoustic Web Site on the way, well maybe. ....

Everything has hit at the same time and I’m already behind with work on Acoustic Rotherham 5 – but we will get there. Having said that I only have one biog in, so those artists who have not already sent their stuff in please do so asap. ....

Oh when is Acoustic Rotherham 5? Why, it’s on Sunday 25th October at The Monkwood, Rawmarsh, kicking off at 1:00pm.....

But first up is of course the first meeting of Flat Cap Folk at The Transport Club, Rotherham on October 15th from 8:30pm, with Brother Crow and Toein’ In The Dark guesting, The Mashers hosting and a host of quality floor spots – we hope you’ll make it a great night by being there. ....

Full details of the Club can be found HERE....

On the 7th October, Dave Swarbrick is appearing at the Rotherham Arts Festival , GO HERE for full details. It promises to be a great night. ....

Our old friends Leather Zoo are live and kicking and providing the support to Vice Squad at MONDO – yes , for those who have not heard all the live acts due to go on at No10 have now been transferred to Mondo, 24 Westgate, Rotherham. Watch out for Myke Masher sneaking around. ....

And a slightly advanced warning, Myke Mashers rock band, Earthtales, will be doing a rare session for Nellie Deane’s on 17th October. If it’s anything like the show that they did at Myke’s birthday party then you are in for a real treat. ....

It’s also a chance to support what might well become a new permanent music venue for Rotherham on a Saturday night, so get down there and have a ball. ....

And The Mashers are back, by popular demand, we are told, at The Handsworth Folk Club, The Cross Keys, Handsworth Road, on 20th October, linking up with the Literary Festival.....

All the Gig News – updated regularly can be found HERE....

The Mashers will be here there and everywhere over the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned as to where that might be. You can always find out what sessions we are playing at by checking our status on Twitter, Myspace, Facebook and Revernation.
