And with a deep breath out it's done
No more tweaking, no more mixing and mastering, no more speculation. The New Boy Wonder Album is completed and no one is happier and scared out of their minds more than I am.
You know that Axel Rose disease...where things have to be perfect before they come out, even if it takes 15 years, yeah I have a milder version of that disease. So for me to say somethign is finished is excrusiating for me. Knowing that I'll never be able to listen to it with the ears that others do. All I'll hear is the mistakes. I guess it's my lack of satisfaction that drives me to keep making music.
As frightened as I am I'm excited as well. I think I've written some cool songs that grew to be cool records, I think (and by think I mean hope) that people will enjoy listening to them. Making a record with Jake, Rob, Brian, and Angie nd everyone else as been a transformative expereince i'm truly a different and better person and musican for going through this.
What started with 5 people in a room blew up to about 20 over about 20 sessions ended with 2 people in a room deciding it's fate. Brian the engineer (who's very patient by the way) and I went through a few tracks, adjusted them and we had a finished (or finishedish) product.
This was the second album I've made in a proper studio but the first I've made as the focused guy you've come to know and...tolerate. I'm very proud of the work that I've done even prouder of everyone else What was once 16 songs dwindled down to 12 then went up to 13 and back down to 11.
I promise I'll talk more about the actual music once the record comes out.
