I know it has been a long time since we last posted a blog
update... but we've been busy going to Myspace and Twittering all over your
Facebook! ;)
The band has been busier and more chaotic than at probably any other time in
recent history. Since April we have completed a Southwest USA tour, a Northwest USA tour, have begun writing for our new album,
and have started preparing for a return trip across the Southwest in October.
The Southwest tour back in April/May was the first real tour for the band with the
current lineup... 11 shows in 16 days, across 4 states. It started out
amazingly well but turned south when Johan's voice started to go out about half
way through, right before our longest stretch of consecutive shows. He used
that big Puerto Rican heart of his to dig deep and make it through every show in one piece.
On a lighter note, the whole band got a great laugh when Jon unknowingly drank
shroom tea in Lubbock!
He seriously woke everyone up talking about aliens and how sleeping on that
couch with his legs elevated is making him feel really funny. It was priceless. All in all it was a great tour... and that's why we're going back!
Many of you may have already heard about how almost the entire band came down with
the flu on the second day of the Northwest tour... amazingly, Johan was the only one who seemed completely unaffected. He also appeared to have learned a lesson from the problems of the last tour, and was able to maintain his voice the whole trip without issues. Jon and Mike had mild/moderate symptoms, but Sam and Chenzo got hit hardest. Without a good opportunity to rest, by the show in Spokane Chenzo's condition had worsened to the point where he had to go to the ER and was diagnosed with pneumonia. He somehow still made it through the show that night, sitting on the edge of the stage, and playing a flawless set. Our show in Seattle had to be canceled, and we had to play our shows in Eugene and Berkeley without him so that he could rest. While it had its ups and downs, this tour was a huge challenge for the band, but overcoming it has bonded us tighter and we are stronger for it.
As for the new tunes, we have a bunch of ideas floating around in the works. We can't say exactly when we will have any demos, but we can say that we should have at least a couple songs ready to jam live on our upcoming SW tour. Our plan is to release a new full-length album sometime next spring, and then follow it up with a cross-country tour! Hopefully you will like where we take our music...
Thank you to everyone who has stepped up and helped support us these past 5 months. Fans, family, and friends are the only things that keep us going.
To the Southwest: we'll see you again in October!!
