The first 2 tracks are studio recordings produced by Yves Altana, '8 Days' was a new song whilst 'Just Keep Falling' was a new and different version of the 'Godard's Girlfriend' album track. Tracks 3-5 were recorded live from on 25-May-08 from Get Rhythm in Ridderkerk (Holland).

Lies Lies & Government was Calvin Party's second album - the title track went on to become a John Peel Festive Fifty 'hit' in 1996 charting at no. 33.
The NME described it as "art noise, a willfull slab of slate rock" and City Life as "a mix of the plaintive and the angry, the weet and the discordant".

"hello, this album is a mix of some stuff we recorded a couple or so years ago, together with some new stuff. it's some songs we didn't want to lose so we put together with some of the new ones to form what we think is a pretty cohesive set of songs ... in retrospect 'northern song' might sound a bit harsh to some ears but i would say 'only if you've had no dealings with that particular breed of humanity - the bailiffs'. the rest of the songs are 'about' the usual things ... loss etc. now that politics offers no hope whatsoever, or more accurately, the way we are governed offers no hope, then the themes of 'the personal' are all that is really left ... i think ..."
