Local UFC 103 coverage: Dallas Morning News | Fort Worth Star-Telegram | McKinney Courier-Gazette

There was a healthy amount of stories on the news wires about Vitor Belfort's win over Rich Franklin.  A surprising amount of press, and most of it was on the straight-and-narrow.  In fact, dare I say, a lot of it positive.  One curious media note is that The LA Times had their core group of writers work the Mayweather show and just ran an AP wire report on UFC 103.  Belfort credited part of his win over Franklin due to focusing on karate training.  The Canadian Press has a good event report.

As you would imagine, Mayweather's lopsided win over Juan Manuel Marquez dominated the traditional sports media in terms of coverage.  The media coverage of the fight and the aftermath is, at best, mixed.  Reuters has a report on Mayweather whining after the fight and playing the 'no respect' card.  A lot of newspaper writers are focusing on Shane Mosley's challenge to Mayweather after the fight.  Most cheered Shane's appeal for a match, while Fox Sports said that Mosley 'ruined' Mayweather's win over Marquez.

To top it all off, Manny Pacquiao says he will file a defamation suit against Floyd Mayweather Sr. because Sr. claimed that Pacquiao is a steroid user.

GOOD REPORT!

Prior  to shane beating Margarito(who style wise was tailor made for Shane), Shane's career was on the downhill. Shane was out boxed by Cotto, lost too Winky Wright, further back he lost to the late Vernon Forrest(twice), Shane's a good fighter, but hes not a draw and his better days are behind him....Floyd love him or hate him...is undefeated, in his prime, and quite frankly one THE BEST FIGHTERS ON OUR GENERATION....like his style or not, the guy has never even been on the ground...EVER or lost EVER...

MAYWEATHER vs COTTO, or MAYWEATHER vs PACQUIAO...would be absolutely huge!!..lets hope one of those happens...If cotto can get to the Form that beat shane...I predict he stops MAnny...hes a true welterweight, who showed he can neutralize speed(like he did against shane) with technical boxing, a jab, and angles....Plus he is good puncher and Devastating body puncher...

I think Manny will lose and we will see Cotto vs mayweather!

Just my 2 cents!

i think the reason people hate mayweather so much is cuz he wont fight anybody he runs a risk of losing against, hes a good fighter but i have 2 agree with the boxing fans he needs a real challenge against a fighter his size and more importantly not a burn out, but someone at there prime. It was f..cked up how they were cussing him out and throwing shit at him as he walked out thats going 2 far, they accuse him of having no class but they displaay the same conduct. I say he should fight Cotto thats a perfect matchup

Boxing is dead......  Who cares?  Vitor won by strikes to the back of the head.  Classy.
