God was definitely working in lives this past Sunday night, 8-17-08. The place was East Trion Church of God of the Union Assembly in Trion, GA. Pastor Denny Smith and his wife Margaret are dear friends of mine from way back. As a matter of fact, Pastor Denny used to be my softball coach way back when. I really had Denny & Margaret and the church on my heart for a few weeks. I knew God was up to something special.
The band and I got there around 2PM to load in. We noticed there was an electricity in the air from the moment we arrived. Everyone was so nice and eager to help in any way to make the night a success.
The East Trion Church Choir started things off with a bang. Let me just say...they are a talented crew! Then it was time for us to go on. We hit the ground running and the crowd was right with us! It was especially neat because we got to utilize the church's big screen for some video and pictures. My mom and dad happened to be there, so I had my dad come up and play a couple of songs with us on the guitar. Everyone loved my dad being there. We brought the night down toward an invitation. I gave my testimony and told the people that I wanted to personally pray for their specific needs. I said I'll sing one verse of a song and then I want you to come. I didn't get three or four words out when the altar just flooded with people crying out to God. I knelt down beside a young man and asked him what could I pray with him about. Through tears, he told me he was lost and needed Jesus to save him. Right then and there I prayed with him and led him to the Cross while Jesus gloriously saved him. That, my friends, is exactly why I do what I do. It's not about the music, it's not about the band, and it's not about me. It's about Jesus Christ, the Holy Son of God Almighty...PERIOD. Two other young ladies prayed to receive Jesus for the very first time as well Sunday night.
Chains were broken and hearts were mended. I give all the praise and all of the honor to God. He is the Healer of broken lives.
Special thanks to Pastor Denny and Margaret for having us over. We were treated like royalty!
God bless you all. Keep fighting the Good Fight!
