Well...that's it friends, another year over, as Lennon put it, a new
one just begun. And in all fairness, and if we do say so ourselves,
what a fucking huge year for Era Vulgaris! Of course by now you all
know that we intend to move operations to the UK in February 2008.
The reason for that, as you also know, being that if we are honest
with ourselves we are not quite as far along the road we have set for
ourselves as we would like to be. But let's just have a little look
at what we have accomplished in 2007, because frankly it still
surprises me sometimes...pleasantly of course.

January 1st last year we had "What Stirs Within" in our hands, Open
Your Ears Music had already been set up as PLC Company registered in
Ireland and Plastichead had already agreed to take on the album for
distribution in the UK and Ireland. The first wave of promo copies of
the album went out for review, Blabbermouth reported the release date
of the album as 5th February 2007, the albums shipped and the first
reviews started trickling in. Unfortunately the main UK metal media
chose to completely and unequivocally ignore us. Rock Sound Magazine
and even Hotpress (100% mainstream Irish music mag) reviewed the album
and Rock Sound especially helped by us out in a huge way with
coverage, and of course the wonderful inclusion in their 100 Acts to
watch in 2007 was undeniably something that people sat up and took
notice of. Except where we needed to be; Metal Hammer and Terrorizer.
Despite this setback to our plans by this stage we had already
adopted a very obstinate do or fucking die attitude so we pushed
forward.

Enter Adrian de Buitlear and Lugga Music who we got into talks with
and decided to work together with Lugga taking on three roles;
distribution agent for OYE Music, booking agent for Era Vulgaris and
PR agent too. Adrian has worked tirelessly with us, matching our
vision and believing in our potential fully - we can't thank him
enough for that. In the months following we secured full distribution
in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Spain, Belgium,
Holland, Luxembourg, began trading distro throughout the rest of
Europe through Sentinel Records and, most impressively, gained full
North American distribution through The End Records. On top of this
reviews started flying in from all around the world, the reviews
reflecting the diversity of the music itself, ranging from massively
scathing low marks right up to "What Stirs Within" being hailed as a
metal masterpiece with several 10/10 and 5 Star reviews from as far
apart as Canada, Greece, Bulgaria, Britain and South Africa. Era
Vulgaris have appeared in printed magazines in Holland, UK, Ireland,
Spain, France, Bulgaria, Australia, South America, Finland and more.
The slow and burdensome task of spreading the name of an independent,
essentially unsigned band around the world is well under way.

So, this much most of you already know. So far so blah, blah, blah.
More recently we have parted with Jim and Chris Con as we decide to
move to the UK to push ourselves as far down this road as possible,
throwing ourselves straight into the deep end, right out of our
comfort zone. We amazingly stumbled across a fantastic drummer who is
equally focused and enthusiastic about his music who will join us in
London, leaving only a second guitarist to recruit.

So, for you our fans, who have talked about us and helped more than
any other aspect in motivating and encouraging us to keep it together
and keep working forward...what can you expect in 2008?

Album number two, the infamous pre-historic monarchy concept album, is
well under way in the writing process; it would be foolish of me to
tell you what it's like, no more than I could describe "What Stirs
Within" in anything less than a song by song description. We have a
new pool of influences from Anto and yet another pool waiting for us
in a second guitarist...so predicting fully the sounds and directions
that will be on the second album is impossible. All we can guarantee
is a huge helping of every kind of that music we all love so much;
heavy metal. Our first gig with the new line up will be supporting
Pagan Altar and Mael Mordha at Full Metal Racket in Belfast on April
6th and following that we will begin to play in every town and city up
and down the entirety of the United Kingdom before heading over to
Europe for a full tour sometime in Autumn 2008.

New recordings will take two stages. As soon as we are ready we will
enter the studio to record two brand new songs. These will be pressed
and distributed for free to give the world a taste, a glimpse of what
will follow, as soon as these go out to the public we want them spread
all over the internet like wildfire. We are entering a new era in
music, in every genre, whether we like it or not bands have to now
focus on getting on the road and bringing the music to the people. We
will be embracing this fully.

A full album will then be recorded and released before the end of
Winter 2008. Whether this will once again be released through Open
Your Ears Music or through a record label has yet to be decided but
there is much else to be concerned with before then, we have received
offers from labels but haven't even considered them yet. There is a
point that we are aiming to reach by ourselves before we cross that
bridge. Within the next 18 months we hope that all our fans will have
had a chance to see us play live.

If you're still reading this then you're either really bored, really
stoned or really a massive fan, hehe, a special huge thank you to you
for your interest and understanding, encouragement and support. We
are nothing without our fans and we hope only that we can reward you
by providing you with more and more music over the coming years.

Whatever you do tonight, whoever you spend it with - have a fucking
great New Year's Eve and we'll talk again in 2008!

Peace out,

Chris Rob
