It sounds worse then it really is, but it still kind of scared the chrap out of me when I realized that I had it. I had a cold for the past week and had been taking dayquil and sleeping in to take care of it. On Wednesday I lost all taste in my mouth, then on Thursday I noticed my mouth was starting to go numb too. By Friday morning I realized I couldn't move the entire right side of my face. The cold I had turned into an infection somehow and caused the nerve that controls the right side of my face to swell. As you can see in my current profile picture I'm smiling, but only one side of my face is actually making the smile. It should only last for about 3 to 6 weeks, and it is not life threatening. So now I'm on these steroid pills and some other antibiotics to help the swelling and they are not allowing me to fall asleep.
