I posted a comment to my friend B here:

and once I got writing, I couldn't stop so I figured I'd post it as my own blog. I love freedom and I am so excited about this freedom movement---something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime---I just can't shut up about it!!
Hi B,..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Nice blogs!
I did my research as well, spent a lot of time reading and studying. Then tried to tell my friends and family what I'd discovered. They dismissed me as a kook (these are people I know and love and who know that I'm anything but a kook!). Even so, they refused to hear anything outside of their comfort zone. Some people actually put their hands over their ears. I finally stopped talking about it unless someone else brought it up. I was discouraged and dismayed that seemingly no one would even give the possibility that there might be some other explanation a cursory glance.
So I share your frustration. But...
Over the past few years, more and more of these people are waking up. It's slow and certainly not as in depth as I would like but it's happening. One of my friends sent me this video the other day, as though she'd discovered it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uT7kcAu4i8. It was, with pure glee that I told her, "I told you so!!!".
One of the most pervasive problems in general is that people believe that government grants We the People permission for our rights and therefore, they trust government to do the right thing. And they trust that the government will take care of us no matter what; after all, that's what we pay taxes for, right? This "victim-entitlement-nanny take care of me from cradle to grave" mentality is a tough nut to crack but sometimes, people have an epiphany all on their own.
For one thing, if you can get people to understand the concept of natural or God-given rights, you either own your body or you don't, private property rights and just basic libertarianism (without calling it that), it seems to change their thinking on all levels. If they really "get it", they begin to think for themselves and question if they really are free (and they don't like the answer!).
Natural disasters have awakened a slew of people. One of my brothers, whose minor was poly sci, and who has always been more politically aware than I, told me that he had a revelation during an ice storm several years ago in my hometown, ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lexington, Kentucky. He said that although he had always intellectually known that we are on our own, the ice storm and its aftermath made it crystal clear that the government is totally inefficient and ineffective at responding to natural disasters and that we really are on our own.
Hurricane Katrina was a major wakeup call for many. A number of my friends have mentioned that as a turning point for their thinking. They have stopped drinking the koolaid and started thinking on their own.
Recently, a friend of mine heard a speech on the Civil War, the speaker explaining how the right of state seccession was at issue, not slavery. She was amazed that she'd never heard that before and was not taught that in school. Now she's wondering what else she's been brainwashed with.
One of my sisters was all for the government imposed smoking ban in restaurants and bars in my hometown, and argued vehemently and passionately about how it was good for public health. That is, until I explained to her that restaurants and bars are NOT public property; they are private property, and as such, the owner should be able to decide whether or not they want smoking in their facilities. She said she had never thought of it that way before.
Several of my co-workers are gay and were discussing gay marriage recently and what candidate would support gay marriage. I asked them to tell me why they had to have "permission" and the government's blessing on what should be a civil contract between consenting adults. I don't know if I got through to them, but I certainly do know that they are saying, "hmmmm..." to themselves.
I am seemingly off topic, but my point is that the freedom movement itself is the very thing that will wake people up and cause them to ask questions and seek answers; to seek the truth. Of this, I am confident.
So, to me, it's more important to turn people on to true freedom and its modern-day vehicle, Ron Paul than it is to try to make them research the lies we've been fed about 9/11 and whatever else. I am optomistic that seeking the truth will follow as a natural result.
And, I honor you and other young people who carry this torch. I'm impressed that there are so many of you thinkers and seekers of truth out there!!!! This gives me much hope for America! Keep it going, never underestimate the Power of One!
Peace.
