I'm having much too much trouble choosing one album by such an amazing band. I'm sorry...but my choice is "pending".

I choose Melody of certain damaged lemons. It was the soundtrack of my life during an important time and thus it is the keystone of an era (on my little planet in the "Le Petit Prince" kinka way).

Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons is amazing.  And the next bast in my opinion is fake Can Be Just as Good.  I like their early singles as well.  I have the Jet Star/Vague single.....received it off ebay years ago from a guy that worked with the twins in New York.  They wrote personal messages to him on the inner sleeve. It's funny.

Me and my best friend Elko interviewed Blonde Redhead in 1997 during their "Fake Can Be Just As Good" tour! They came to our radiostation in Antwerp Belgium Radio Centraal 106.7FM and didn't know we would interviewed them live on air. Very interesting and nice people with a great gift of making good music. I like all the albums!!!! The last time i saw them live was in 2004 in Brussels with the promotion of " Misery Is A Butterfly ", what a gig that was!!!

Tricky issue here is they are all the best!

i like "la mia.."  and "in an expresion.."  but the beauty in "melody" and "butterfly" are undeniable, I hope that the band understands people really apreciate the things they give us, it is all so under appreciated, and will be very important for the future of music.

Wow! There's lots of big writing people here! Well I guess if ones music inspires big writing it's a reaction I guess, which is good. I've only got Misery Is a Butterfly so an easy choice there. What's it all about anyway? Or is that/it a) Self explanitory, b) A stupid quetion you get all the time, c) Irrellevent since the web-master couldn't give a shit, d) Information easily accessed on the proper website, e) the meaning is for you to find, stop trying to pick our minds we've already given you our emotion, or f) none of the above.

Well I think it's fucking quality anyway, stuck in my head hard, what's going on with the horsey thing as well? OK more questions! Enough.

Ciao Ciao.

Misery Is A Butterfly:  "Elephant Woman" was the perfect artistic description for how I was feeling about love and what I was going through when I first heard it.  I discovered this music at the perfect time in my life and instantly loved it.  This album is nearly flawless in its originality, beauty, and depth.

it's hard to say a one favorite.  all the albums stand out to me, the sound changed some after Lemons and kept getting "bigger", like the emotion they want to exude has an echo on it more so now.  it's dreamier.  their older stuff is raw.  i like it equally, i like them all or what they are.

wow thats a hard one... um I really like la mia vita violenta but you know it evolved into something a little bit more profound than the rawness of the earlier albums... soo its a tie between misery is a butterfly and la mia vita violenta. But Good question. : )

Fake can be just as goooooood

I love love love them all but that one is just.... wow. No other music in this world embodies my insecurity and paranoia as well as this music does. That sounds like a terrible thing but I mean it in the best way!

The highwater mark was In An Expression Of The Inexpressible. After that things started to go downhill. Misery Is A Butterfly is probably the least sonically interesting of all their records. Which is why it's probably top of this poll.

i like in an expression because it's a turning point for the band.
but anyone who has seen the band live knows that the albums are conceptual, and that the raw energy and interaction is best expressed in the performances.
maybe someday the we will see a live record...we can only hope, as the records are only half the story
without a doubt.
we are trying

La Mia Vita Violenta is by far their finest work hands down. The mood that it sets cannot be matched by any other album they have released. I have to say though 23 is their best album since In An Expression Of The Inexpressable.

I picked Melody...lemons, but like everyone else on here it was a very difficult choice. I could have just as easily picked La mia, misery or the title album...or expression or fake for that matter!! Bottom Line: All the albums are absolutely amazing in their own particular way. Timeless beauty.
