Heartland arose from a the simple two chord riff
that opens the song. The rest of the song slowly evolved from hard
work and random flashes of inspiration. The chorus lyrics came to me in a
dream. Dani wrote the vocal melody/harmonies and fine tuned the lyrics. (From True Lies)
Can't Find My Way is a new version of the Blind Faith classic. Opens with a delicate guitar solo that builds into the first verse. Great vocal finish by Dani. Several reviewers say this is the best song on the new CD. Not sure I agree with that, but I'm happy it has been so well received. (From True Lies)
Still...You Turn Me On is our take on the ELP/Greg Lake classic, one of my favorite songs of all time. Dani added harmonies to the vocals and I added an entire verse of solo guitar work which was fun and challenging over the cool chord structure of this song. (From True Lies)
Wind Cries Mary is a sample from the new CD, our interpretation of the Hendrix classic. Opens with just an electric piano and Dani's voice. Dani just rocks the third verse. Tell me you don't agree :) (From True Lies)
Road Not Taken started as a chord progression and was planned as an instrumental work. Most
of the lyrics came to me in a ten minute flash of inspiration. There
is no personal story here and it is my intent that the outcome is open to interpretation. Dani and I worked long and hard to arrive at this vocal
treatment. The long ending solo was mostly written in one take and I consider it one of my best. (From True Lies)
Lady Kicks Ax is a fun straight ahead rock song about a girl and her guitar. I originally wrote the lyrics two years ago and almost tossed them but Dani convinced me to keep them. She wrote the vocal line and fine tuned the lyrics. This is really tongue-in-cheek but one critic wrote: "I have visions of Mullets screaming "Play Freebird!" My reply? Bite me, dude! Little Wing This is the fourth version of this song with new vocals (by Dani), new drums, and a complete remix. Okay, I think I'm done now. (From New World)
